
On the afternoon of November 6, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , in response to a reporter's question about the protection of Vietnamese citizens during the raids on online fraud sites in Myanmar, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said that according to information from the Vietnamese Embassies in Thailand and Myanmar, as of October 22, 2025, over 70 Vietnamese citizens had moved from Myanmar to Thailand due to the Myanmar authorities launching a campaign to raid establishments related to criminal activities and online fraud.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Vietnamese Embassies in Myanmar and Thailand proactively worked with local authorities to find out information, coordinate to screen and verify information to protect citizens in accordance with local and Vietnamese laws.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed embassies and relevant units to immediately coordinate with domestic and local authorities to carry out necessary consular procedures and support citizens to return home as soon as possible. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again recommends that Vietnamese citizens be alert to invitations to go abroad to do "easy work with high salaries", without requirements for degrees, qualifications, without signed contracts, and without going through businesses or labor sending organizations...
"Citizens need to carefully research the job content, unit, expected work location, personal information of the referrer, insurance regime, benefits... to make the right decision before going abroad to work," Ms. Pham Thu Hang emphasized.
In case of need of assistance, citizens and their relatives can contact the hotline of the Consular Department (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the Vietnamese Embassies in Myanmar and Thailand.
The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that in recent times, in the face of the complicated developments of fraud, online and cybercrime, Vietnam has completed the legal framework for telecommunications and cyber security management to create effective tools to prevent violations in cyberspace, aiming for a safe and transparent cyber environment for the people. Vietnam has clearly demonstrated its joint actions with the United Nations and its member states to combat cybercrime, which has been developing complicatedly recently, through the signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention and recent High-Level Conferences.
Prestigious international media have also reported and commented on Vietnam's proactiveness, pioneering, connectivity and commitment in this activity. At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant ministries, branches and agencies are also actively discussing with partner countries to establish cooperation mechanisms to improve the effectiveness of Vietnam's citizen protection work, and more effectively combat organized crime and high-tech crime in other countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also directed Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to monitor the situation and prepare necessary plans, closely coordinate with domestic and local agencies to promptly deploy citizen protection measures.
* Also at the press conference, answering a reporter's question about the international community's support for Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters as well as plans to call for cooperation and support from the international community in the coming time, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that, to express solidarity and sympathy for the loss of life and property caused by natural disasters and floods, recently, many countries and international organizations have sent condolences and financial support, rescue equipment, and necessary necessities to the Government and people of Vietnam, and to localities that are suffering heavy damage.
“These are valuable resources, necessary and timely support from the international community to help people in localities of Vietnam soon overcome great pain and loss to stabilize their lives,” Ms. Pham Thu Hang emphasized and affirmed: The Government and people of Vietnam always appreciate this valuable and timely support and assistance, thereby demonstrating solidarity to join hands with the Government and people of Vietnam to overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives.
