Received 65 citizens involved in online fraud activities

Among the 65 Vietnamese people returned by Cambodia, there was a wanted person and many victims who were lured with "easy work, high salary" and forced to participate in an online fraud ring.

On November 4, Hoa Lu International Border Gate Border Guard Station ( Dong Nai Provincial Border Guard) organized the reception of 65 Vietnamese citizens returning home from Cambodian authorities.

Among them, 64 citizens escaped from an online fraud facility in Banteay Meanchey province and 1 citizen was arrested for illegal residence in Oddar Meanchey province (Cambodia). As a result of initial inspection, screening, and interviews, the authorities identified 65 citizens from 24 provinces and cities, of which Ho Chi Minh City had the most with 9 people, followed by Hanoi with 6 people...

Most of the repatriated people said they were tricked into going to Cambodia to do “light work, high salary”, but once in the neighboring country, they were immediately controlled by a group of people with electric batons and guns and taken to a company that operates online fraud.

The Chief of the Hoa Lu International Border Guard Station said that before receiving 65 citizens returning from Cambodia, the unit closely coordinated with relevant forces to verify personal information, look up immigration software, screen subjects... Initially, the unit identified a young man as a wanted subject. The station completed the procedures to hand over this subject to the Investigation Police Agency, Hai Phong City Police to bring him back to the locality for further investigation and handling according to authority.

In particular, when interviewed, Mr. VAH (Tan Khai commune, Dong Nai province) accused Mr. NVT (38 years old, residing in Tan Khai commune) of fraud and human trafficking from Vietnam to Cambodia for illegal labor. Therefore, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Battambang requested the Dong Nai Provincial Police to study and clarify Mr. VAH's criminal denunciation information in accordance with the law.

Previously, in July 2025, Dong Nai province received 85 Vietnamese citizens returning home from Cambodian authorities. This group of people were detained by Cambodian authorities in Kratie province for "criminal activities and online fraud" during a general inspection, sweep and crackdown on online fraud activities of the neighboring country.
