Married early, Ms. Ha gave birth to four children. The small family's life of working as hired laborers was also temporary as both husband and wife worked hard to raise their children.
Ms. Ha's family's life is very difficult. The struggle to make ends meet is not over yet, and on top of that, the worry of not having money to treat her children's illnesses is added.
Of the four children, the youngest daughter Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc (born in 2004) is less fortunate, because since childhood she has had slow brain development and cannot take care of herself. Recently, Bich Ngoc was also diagnosed with heart failure and cardiac edema, which has caused her health to decline. Currently, Bich Ngoc is in emergency care and receiving oxygen at Cho Ray Hospital ( Ho Chi Minh City). To have money to take her child to the hospital, Ms. Ha had to borrow money from neighbors.
In 2015, Ms. Ha's husband had a traffic accident, resulting in a dislocated spine, poor health, and unable to do heavy work. She had to shoulder and take care of everything in the family alone. Becoming the pillar of the family, taking care of her sick husband and taking care of her children, Ms. Ha was always busy.
The hardships and difficulties did not stop there. In 2018, Nguyen Thi Thu Trinh's daughter (born in 2000) was diagnosed with myelitis and muscular atrophy. She gradually lost the ability to walk and had to rely on the help of relatives. The family tried to find a way to treat her illness but it did not improve. At this time, the family had to sell the house to have money to treat her illness. They accepted the days of living in a rented house to exchange for their daughter's future but failed. Although she could not walk or work to earn a living, fate gave Thu Trinh a small family with a husband who loved her very much. Currently, Thu Trinh has her own family but she cannot do anything to raise her children. Only her husband works, so she still has to rely on her mother to take care of her when she is sick.
Her husband's illness and her child's illness have made Ms. Ha miserable and miserable. Her unstable job doesn't bring her much money. On days when she has no work, Ms. Ha collects rubber latex to earn money to buy rice.
The difficulties and hardships seemed to stop there, but in early 2024, Ms. Ha's husband had a traffic accident and died, causing her to lose her support. With tears in her eyes, Ms. Ha confided: "Now I just hope that my children are healthy so they can take care of themselves, and that makes me happy."
As the eldest son in the family, it was thought that after his father passed away, Trong Khanh would take over the family responsibility, taking care of his mother and siblings. However, recently, he was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney failure. In 2020, after completing his military service and returning to his hometown, Khanh went to work at a company to help his family. Working as an electrical maintenance worker in an industrial park with a salary of about 7-8 million VND/month also helped him earn money to help his mother. In addition to working hours and on holidays, he also took on electrical repair work to earn income. However, since he got sick, his health has been worse, making it impossible for him to carry heavy loads.
The third daughter, Anh Thu, got married early and has two children, aged 7 and 10 months, but also suffers from vestibular disorders and ovarian cysts. Currently, Anh Thu leaves her 10-month-old child at home for her mother to take care of while she takes care of her younger sister in the hospital.
“The family has 4 children but all are sick. After many years of taking care of them, Ms. Ha is exhausted. The social welfare of her second daughter is not worth much, so the family is in a difficult situation. We hope that benefactors will join hands to help the family so that Ms. Ha has money to pay for the treatment of her children, as well as have the motivation to rise up” - Mr. Duong Quang Hien, Thuan Loi commune, Dong Phu district shared:
