CAHN impressively secured their place in the Southeast Asian Cup final after defeating PSM Makassar (Indonesia) 2-0 in the second leg of the semi-final on the evening of April 30th. After two legs, Mano Polking's team won with an aggregate score of 2-1.
Thanks to this, goalkeeper Nguyen Filip set a memorable milestone in his career. He became the first Vietnamese-born player to participate in two regional finals in less than 5 months.
In early January 2025, Nguyen Filip made his first appearance in the Vietnamese national team squad for the ASEAN Cup 2024. In this tournament, he played a supporting role to goalkeeper Nguyen Dinh Trieu of Hai Phong .
Despite not starting in the final against Thailand, the goalkeeper born in 1992 still had an impressive debut in the group stage. He helped the "Golden Star Warriors" win 1-0 against Indonesia and draw 1-1 with the Philippines in the group stage.
At the Southeast Asian Cup, the goalkeeper of Vietnamese-Czech descent was a reliable last line of defense for CAHN. He played in 6 out of 7 matches, making a significant contribution to the team's journey to the final.
Notably, Filip kept two clean sheets: the 5-0 victory against Lion City Sailors in the group stage and the 2-0 win against PSM Makassar in the second leg of the semi-final. With this achievement, he officially made history as the first Vietnamese-born player to reach both the national team and club finals in less than five months.
