Since the end of July, many residents and officials working at the headquarters of the Department of Science and Technology of Hai Phong (No. 1, Pham Ngu Lao Street, An Bien Ward, Hai Phong) have reported that smart keys of cars and motorbikes have been disabled. Vehicles can only start when they are taken out of a range of about 50m from this area.
After receiving the feedback, on August 20, the Regional Radio Frequency Center V (under the Radio Frequency Department, Ministry of Science and Technology ) sent a working group to the scene to inspect and find the cause. By the afternoon of August 27, the Radio Frequency Department said it had successfully handled the source of interference occurring in the above area.
The cause was a faulty vibration device at a nearby milk tea shop, emitting an interference signal. The results of the measurement and signal analysis showed that the interference device was a TRND16 wireless vibration device consisting of 16 cards, used by Mr Good Tea at 4 Pham Ngu Lao Street, An Bien Ward, Hai Phong to notify customers to receive their drinks.
"This device had a technical problem, continuously emitting signals and causing direct interference on the 433.05 - 434.79 MHz frequency band, which is exempt from licensing for remote control devices such as smart keys according to Circular 08/2021/TT-BTTTT", the unit concluded. Immediately after handling the interference source, smart key devices in the area returned to normal operation.
In 2024, the Regional Radio Frequency Center V also handled two similar cases in Hai Phong. The first case occurred at Nhat Van 1 Restaurant (No. 303, Nguyen Van Linh Street), the cause was a faulty rolling door control device, causing interference and affecting the operation of smart locks for cars and motorbikes.

The second incident took place in Lot LK1, Hoang Huy Apartment, An Hai Ward (former An Dong Commune), when an electronic game management device emitted a signal that completely interfered with the smart keys.
On August 24, the working group of the Radio Frequency Center of Region I conducted a measurement in the Kim Ma area (Hanoi) and determined that the cause was a QR code scanning device used to compare Vietlott results. This device was faulty, continuously transmitting signals on the frequency band 433.05 - 434.79 MHz, which is exempt from licensing for remote control devices such as smart keys.
The common point of these jamming devices is that they do not have a conformity stamp and do not meet the technical standards according to Circular 08/2021/TT-BTTTT. After being handled, the operation of vehicles in the area returned to normal, with no more interference.
To prevent similar incidents and ensure frequency safety, the Radio Frequency Department recommends that people and organizations should only purchase and use radio wave application devices of clear origin, certified and declared to be in compliance, and have a conformity stamp as prescribed.
