On the evening of May 13, the closing ceremony and awards ceremony of the first Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF I) 2023 took place at Trung Vuong Theater, Da Nang City.
The closing ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, leaders of Da Nang City, famous directors and actors from home and abroad.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha presented the most important award of the night - Best Asian Film to director Ha Le Diem for the film Children in the Mist.
"I want to thank Ma Thi Di, my main character, and all my friends in the Mong community. Today, I wore the dress that Di made. I would like to thank the producers, who followed me from 2017 to 2021 to complete the film" - director Ha Le Diem emotionally shared.
The most important award of the night was the Best Asian Film Award presented by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and People's Artist Nhu Quynh. The film Children of the Mist by director Ha Le Diem was named as the winner.
Children in the Mist is a Vietnamese documentary about the lost childhood of a Mong girl. The film was filmed by director Ha Le Diem herself while experiencing life with a Mong family.
The Special Jury Prize for Asian Film category went to World War III. Presenting the award, Ms. Moon So Ri - Chairwoman of the Jury for Asian Film category said that this was a difficult decision for the Jury as the films participating in the award were all of very high quality, competing against each other in every criterion.
"Queen" Moon So Ri presented the Special Award for Asian Film to World War III. Director Houman Seyyedi received this prestigious award on behalf of the crew.
The Best Vietnamese Film Award - the most important award in the Vietnamese film category - was announced by People's Artist Le Khanh and Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City.
In this category, Mrs. Nu's House by director Tran Thanh was named. Actresses Hari Won, Uyen An and Kha Nhu received the award on behalf of director and producer Tran Thanh.
Emotionally sharing when receiving the award, singer and actress Hari Won said that her husband is a person who cannot live without art. "My husband is filming the show Rap Viet so he cannot be here. At first, my husband said he could not go so I went with him to take care of and pay for the crew. So, this award is a big surprise to me" - Hari Won said.
Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh presented the award for Best Vietnamese Film to Mrs. Nu's House. Because Tran Thanh was busy filming Rap Viet season 3, his wife Hari Won appeared on his behalf at DANAFF I.

Hari Won said Tran Thanh is someone who cannot live without art. This double award will be a motivation for Tran Thanh in the upcoming journey. "I wish you to make films for the rest of your life...", Tran Thanh's wife shared with emotion.
At this film festival, the crew of the film Dem toi ruc ro won big when they took home 4 important awards in the Vietnamese film category, including: Special prize from the Vietnamese film jury; Best actor (Huynh Kien An); Best actress (Nha Uyen); Best script (screenwriters Nha Uyen and Aaron Toronto).
In addition, the Best Actress Award in the Asian Film category was given to Juliet Bao Ngoc Doling - a girl born in Hanoi, currently living in England. She won the award for her role in The Glorious Ashes.
Director Aaron Toronto and actor Huynh Kien An excellently received the awards for Best Screenplay and Best Actor in the Vietnamese film category. This is also the category where Dem toi rene won big with 4/7 awards.
