Auction of license plates raises 6,400 billion VND for the state budget

As of June 19, after 6 auctions, the total number of license plates auctioned was 5,128,080, the total amount collected for the budget was 6,400 billion VND.

Pursuant to the Law on Road Traffic Safety and Order 2024 and Decree No. 156/2024/ND-CP dated December 10, 2024 of the Government regulating the auction of vehicle license plates, dated March 5, 2025, Traffic Police Department issued Decision No. 1086 approving the Plan for the 6th Vehicle License Plate Auction (with a total of 2,181,366 vehicle license plates).

Accordingly, from April 8, 2025 to June 19, 2025, 56,498 license plates were successfully auctioned, equivalent to VND 2,300 billion; of which, 19,569 license plates were for cars, equivalent to VND 1,781 billion; and 36,929 license plates were for motorbikes, equivalent to VND 510 billion. The total amount of money that the auction winners paid was VND 2,000 billion.

The car license plates with high winning prices that have been paid are 30M-888.88 for 10.5 billion VND; 99A-888.88 for 10 billion VND; 20A-888.88 for 5.2 billion VND; 14A-888.88 for 4.2 billion VND; 51M-567.89 for 3.8 billion VND.

Thus, the auction results from September 15, 2023 to June 19, 2025 with a total of 5,128,080 listed license plates; the total number of successfully auctioned license plates is 107,716 plates equivalent to VND 6,690 billion; the total amount collected to pay to the state budget is VND 6,400 billion.

On June 13, 2025, the Traffic Police Department signed Decision No. 3535/QD-CSGT-P4 approving the Plan for the 7th Vehicle License Plate Auction (with a total of 1,235,835 license plates from 34 localities) and posted it on the Ministry of Public Security's Electronic Information Portal and the Traffic Police Department's Electronic Information Page from June 18, 2025. After 1 month of posting according to the provisions of Decree 156, the Traffic Police Department will coordinate with VPA Company to organize the 7th auction according to the regulations.
