Famous screenwriter Kay Nguyen (Nguyen Le Phuong Khanh) has appeared on Shark Tank Vietnam to raise capital for a new film project.
Kay Nguyen said: "In 21 years of making films, my filmmaking team and I have produced 16 films with a total revenue of over 1,200 billion VND, of which 4 films earned over 600 billion VND. There are 3 films representing Vietnam at the Oscars: Co Ba Sai Gon, for which I am the screenwriter and co-director, Hai Phuong , for which I am the screenwriter, and Mat Biec, for which I am the screenwriter and producer."

Coming to Shark Tank, Kay Nguyen raised 4.5 billion VND for 70% of the shares of the children's film project Than Tra , scheduled to be released on June 1, 2026.
Regarding the movie project Than Tra , according to Kay Nguyen, this will be the first original scripted movie for children in the past 10 years.
"The story is about an introverted boy who loves the city. One day he returns to his hometown - Bao Loc, where there is a tea hill, and by chance he meets the ghost of his great-grandfather - the person who holds the secret of famous tea that is now lost, then together with his single aunt and the neighbor, they create a "super quartet". Together, this quartet restores the secret tea recipe and brings back the golden age to their family's tea hill to save it from the plot of dividing and selling the land...", Kay Nguyen shared.
Regarding the Than Tra movie project, according to Kay Nguyen, this will be the first original scripted children's movie in the past 10 years.

"I have the Hacoocha tea brand, so when I heard you talking about the script, I thought you were talking about me. I just need you to act like the script in this story and it will be very realistic, I just need to add a little real image and it's done", Shark Hung said and "divided the work" to the other 2 sharks: "Shark Minh Beta is in charge of investment, production and distribution, while Shark Binh runs social, marketing, and sells tickets online".
Shark Minh Beta is concerned that with a budget of 5 billion VND, it is impossible to hire star actors, which will reduce the attractiveness of the film. Responding to the owner of the Beta Cinemas theater chain, Kay Nguyen said that each film will have a different strategy, there will be films with star strategies, with Than Tra , the point of attracting audiences will be in the script. Cartoons or YouTube videos with millions of views do not come from having star actors. Than Tra 's strategy is to select child actors and adults who fit the role, with a close, cute story, which will be affectionate enough for the audience.
Realizing the attractiveness of the deal, Shark Thai wanted to make a deal. Not letting the sharks wait, Shark Minh Beta also spoke up to close the deal. At the same time, 4.5 billion VND was also divided into 70% of the shares according to specific ratios including Shark Minh Beta holding 25%, Shark Hung 15% because he had a tea company, Sharks Binh, Nga, Thai each holding 10% of the shares.
Upon hearing the amount of capital the startup raised, Shark Binh concluded: "Shark Hung, Shark Minh and I will invest immediately."
Kay Nguyen was surprised to receive a deposit transfer from the sharks right on the fundraising stage.

Realizing the project's potential, Shark Hung "couldn't sit still", urging the other sharks to transfer money to Kay Nguyen: "I'll post the QR code of the account number here so the sharks can transfer the money right away".
Kay Nguyen was surprised to receive the deposit from the sharks right on the fundraising stage, closing the successful deal. This is also the first time in the history of Shark Tank Vietnam that all 5 sharks closed the deal and transferred the deposit.
