The year 2024 witnessed significant contributions from Venerable Thich Quang Hue and the Buddhist community of Phuoc An Pagoda to the development of Vinh Chanh commune. With compassion and a high sense of responsibility, the Venerable mobilized Buddhists and philanthropists from within and outside the locality to jointly carry out many meaningful projects and activities. Notable examples include supporting the construction of two new rural bridges and repairing the Vinh Chanh communal house – a local historical and cultural relic.
Beyond infrastructure development, Venerable Thich Quang Hue also pays special attention to disadvantaged circumstances, through supporting health insurance for poor students; donating nearly 1,000 gifts during holidays such as the Mid-Autumn Festival and Lunar New Year to poor and near-poor households, students with particularly difficult circumstances, and social welfare beneficiaries… The total budget for these social welfare activities in 2024 exceeded 1 billion VND.
With the motto "Living a good life and upholding moral values" deeply ingrained in every action, Venerable Thich Quang Hue is not only a propagator of Buddhist teachings but also an exemplary citizen, always striving for positive values for society. He has opened short-term study courses for Buddhists, youth, and teenagers both locally and outside the area, teaching Buddhist principles; and promoting and encouraging people to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations.
Venerable Thich Quang Hue is always wholeheartedly dedicated to the community.
“We always aspire to join hands with the local government to build a more prosperous and civilized homeland. The trust and support of Buddhist followers and philanthropists are a tremendous source of motivation for us to continue to follow the teachings of the Buddha and emulate the shining examples of President Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang in caring for the people,” shared Venerable Thich Quang Hue.
With the desire to bring more practical activities to the community, the Venerable Monk coordinated with the An Giang Provincial Humanitarian Medical Team and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Chanh commune to organize free medical examinations and distribute free medicine, and disseminate information on how to prevent common diseases (dengue fever, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, etc.); and donated gifts to 400 families of policy beneficiaries, the elderly, and poor households, totaling nearly 100 million VND. This activity contributed to raising awareness about health and providing timely support for those in difficult circumstances to access medical services.
Simultaneously, in response to the humanitarian message "One drop of blood given, one life saved," Venerable Thich Quang Hue, along with the congregation of Phuoc An Pagoda and Buddhist followers, actively participated in the voluntary blood donation movement. More than 100 units of blood were donated to the Can Tho Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital, contributing to the valuable blood reserve and providing timely assistance to patients in need.
Highly appreciating the contributions of Venerable Thich Quang Hue, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Chanh commune, Pham Ngoc Thanh, said: “In 2024, implementing the theme “An Giang learning and following the example of President Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang in caring for the people's lives,” Venerable Thich Quang Hue connected many Buddhists and philanthropists inside and outside the locality to help the people both materially and spiritually, building rural traffic bridges, constructing houses for families with difficult housing circumstances… The Venerable is a shining example, guiding Buddhists to always live a good life and uphold moral values.”
The example set by Venerable Thich Quang Hue is a beautiful image, spreading noble humanitarian values within the community. His journey of service has contributed to building a better society, where compassion and sharing are always valued.
