According to information from the French Institute in Vietnam, the series of events by the French writer will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18 at The Wiselands coffee, 17 Ha Hoi, Hanoi with the discussion "Love in the works of Camille Laurens."

The female writer will continue to have discussions and exchanges at 9:30 a.m. on October 20 at Hanoi University; 5:30 p.m. on October 21 at the French Institute in Hue; 2:00 p.m. on October 22 at the University of Foreign Languages, Danang University; 6:00 p.m. on October 23 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University; 9:00 a.m. on October 24 at the Vietnam Women's Publishing House Branch, Ho Chi Minh City.

The event will open up a space for literary dialogue around the theme of “Love” in the works of writer Camille Laurens - one of the prominent female voices of contemporary French literature. With a delicate, emotional writing style and not afraid to explore the depths of inner life, Camille Laurens has portrayed love as both a gentle and intense experience, associated with thoughts on identity and memory.

Each of her works is a journey to explore different forms of love, desire and hurt. The event will give Vietnamese readers an insight into how the contemporary French female writer presents love as a driving force in life, a paradoxical passion.

With a sharp and sophisticated feminist perspective, writer Camille Laurens not only questions the role of women in society, but also delves into gender experiences that are both personal and universal.

Works such as “The Daughter” (Fille), and most recently “The Promise” (Ta promesse) demonstrate her constant efforts to deconstruct gender stereotypes, while exposing the invisible power mechanisms that control women's bodies and voices.

Through literature, Camille Laurens asserts that “gender/sex” is not only a biological “identity” but also a socio-cultural reality that needs to be illuminated and reflected upon. The event will discuss in depth gender, power and freedom in contemporary French literature./.

Camille Laurens holds a Master's degree in Modern Literature. She taught in Normandy (France) and then in Morocco, where she lived for 12 years. She currently lives in Paris. She received the Femina and Renaudot Prizes for secondary school students for her work “In Arms” (2000). Since 2020, she has been a member of the Jury of the Goncourt Academy. Her works have been translated into more than 30 languages.

The works “In the arms,” “Emotional love song,” and “Daughter” by Camille Laurens have been published in Vietnam by Women's Publishing House, and the work “Broken promise” will be published during this visit to Vietnam.
