Musician Quoc Dung - husband of famous singer Bao Yen passed away

Sharing with VietNamNet, famous singer Cam Van said that musician Quoc Dung - husband of famous singer Bao Yen just passed away at noon on September 24.

"I just received a phone call from Dam Vinh Hung informing me that Dung had passed away a few hours ago. He had been sick for several years and had been getting worse over the past 10 days. Although I was surprised and shocked, I felt comforted that he passed away peacefully," she said.

Musician Bao Chau - the youngest son of musician Quoc Dung - changed his profile picture to black on his personal page with a message in memory of his father: "I will do what I promised."

The musician passed away surrounded by his family. Famous singer Bao Yen and his children and grandchildren were present at the moment of his last breath.

On the evening of September 24, famous singer Bao Yen was scheduled to participate in a fundraising concert to support victims of the mini apartment fire in Hanoi with Cam Van, Dam Vinh Hung, Huong Lan, Ngoc Son... Due to sad news from her family, the famous singer canceled her participation and apologized to the audience.

Musician Quoc Dung was born in 1951 in Thailand. At the age of 3, he followed his family to Vietnam. At the age of 10, his family sent him to study music at the National Music School in Saigon.

At the age of 17, he composed his first song , Em dai thay mua xuan chua (Have you seen spring yet). The song quickly won the hearts of the audience and contributed to his reputation. After that success, he wrote many other famous songs such as Mai (Mai), Duong xua (Old Road), Con gio thoi (Thoan Gio), Chuyen ba nguoi (Con mai noi day), Diep khuc mua xuan (Spring Chorus), Thoat ly (Escape), Hoang vang (Desolate) ... Quoc Dung is considered to have a diverse composition style, from pop music to yellow music and love songs from 1954-1975.

Many singers performed Quoc Dung’s songs, but the most successful and memorable was the famous singer Bao Yen. The two got married and became a beautiful couple in the Vietnamese music scene at that time.

His compositions became famous through the voice of Bao Yen. On the contrary, the resounding success of the famous female singer had great support from her husband. The couple has 2 sons Khai Ca and Bao Chau who also follow the art career.

In addition to being a musician, Quoc Dung also arranges music. He is also an actor, having played the male lead in the film My School, directed by Le Dan.
