Picked up dried fish bladder while cleaning the house, unexpectedly it was a treasure sent from heaven

This treasure was forgotten for 50 years in a rice barrel, and has such high nutritional and economic value that it is equivalent to a house.

Mr. Xu - a fisherman in Zhou Shan archipelago (China) - accidentally found 50-year-old dried fish bladder while cleaning out an old rice barrel in 2022.

This treasure was bought by his father in 1972 for 40 NDT (equivalent to tens of millions of VND today) from a Mao Chang fish weighing more than 50kg.

The 350g, orange-yellow balloon was dried and kept as a family heirloom but forgotten for half a century.

Surprisingly, after 50 years, the fish bladder is still intact and undamaged thanks to being sealed in a rice barrel.

Zhejiang Ocean University professor confirmed that this is an extremely rare antique , belonging to the top class of fish bladders.

In Guangdong and Hong Kong, this type of fish bladder costs 6-8 million NDT/kg (20-27 billion VND), Mr. Xu's piece is estimated to be worth a house.

Not only is it rare, the 50-year-old fish bladder also has superior nutritional value and is easier to absorb than the regular kind. Experts advise Mr. Xu to continue keeping it as a family heirloom instead of selling it on the market.
