Many dangerous complications after liposuction

In April 2024, Ms. H. (Hanoi) listened to an advertisement on social media and spent 110 million VND for liposuction and abdominoplasty. A week after surgery, her upper abdomen began to harden. When she responded to the doctor, she was advised to wait and massage. However, after a month, many large lumps appeared in her abdomen, making her worried and not daring to return to that facility.

Similarly, Ms. D.THT (37 years old, Nghe An ) had to go to Bach Mai Hospital for emergency treatment with swollen legs, pus accumulation, and multiple infections after having thigh liposuction at a spa.

Ms. PTT (49 years old, Bac Ninh) also suffered from infection and necrosis after liposuction at a private facility due to unsanitary techniques and environment. She had to be hospitalized with a oozing wound and infection spreading down to her thigh.

From the above case, Dr. Hoang Hong, Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery, Hanoi Medical University Hospital, said that abdominal wall deformities cause pain, discomfort, affect aesthetics and cause psychological self-esteem. In the patient's case, we performed surgery to remove the fibrous mass, clean the abdominal area and restore aesthetics.

This doctor said that after studying for 6 years at Hanoi Medical University, plus 15 years of experience as a cosmetic surgeon, he dares to perform cosmetic procedures.

“But now people are putting their lives in the hands of people who are not trained in aesthetics, which is really foolish and dangerous,” said Dr. Hong.
