This is the opening activity for a series of events celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Museum's founding (1995 - 2025), bringing the public many interesting experiences associated with the journey of preserving and promoting the value of folk cultural heritage.
During the program, the audience met folk artists who have accompanied the Museum for nearly three decades, recreating the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival space through familiar toys: lanterns, star lanterns, paper doctors, figurines, papier-mâché masks, clay figurines... Not only did they get to admire, children also had the opportunity to directly learn how to make toys under the guidance of artisans.
Along with that are many exciting experiential activities such as: folk games (jump rope, stilt walking, hopscotch, tug of war...), STEM activities to explore science from lanterns, or games at the Discovery Room dedicated to children such as telling stories about the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival, trying out hand puppetry, painting Mid-Autumn Festival-themed pictures, learning about traditional toys... Thereby, children can both learn and play, combining the joy of discovery with scientific knowledge and folk culture.
A new highlight of the program is the “Autumn Colors” art installation space, which will officially launch on October 4. This space displays traditional toys from the elderly artisans, along with restored and creative products from young people with a passion for handicrafts.
Here, the public has the opportunity to listen to stories about the journey of preserving and creating folk toys, and experience the unique connection between heritage and digital technology through the image of "Doctor AI".
The rehearsal program is the warm-up step for the event "Mid-Autumn Festival 2025: Fun with Children" officially taking place in the first two days of October at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, contributing to spreading folk cultural values, inspiring creativity and love of heritage in the community.
