On October 1, information spread on social networks that on the afternoon of September 30, before the afternoon class, a group of people gave out free drinking water to students at Binh Minh Secondary School, Binh Minh Commune, Thanh Oai District ( Hanoi ).

After drinking the water, some students showed signs of vomiting, were monitored at the school's medical room and transferred to Thanh Oai District General Hospital for treatment.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on the morning of October 1, Mr. Doan Viet Dung, head of the Departmentof Education and Training of Thanh Oai district, said that the Department of Education is currently waiting for Binh Minh Secondary School to report the above incident.

According to Mr. Dung, after receiving the information, the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Oai district also sent information to schools in the area to grasp the incident and strengthen coordination in educating students' awareness, not to snack outside the school gate and not to accept food and drinks from strangers.

On the morning of October 1, the leader of Thanh Oai District General Hospital informed that on the afternoon of September 30, the hospital received 12 cases of students from Binh Minh Secondary School showing signs of poisoning and were transferred for treatment.

Accordingly, 9 mild cases were transferred to the infectious disease department, 3 more severe cases were treated in the intensive care unit.

"As of this morning, the health of the students is basically stable. Doctors are continuing to monitor them and they can be discharged today," said a hospital representative.

The cause of poisoning in these students is currently unknown.
