The National Cheo Festival is a national-scale art activity, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism every 3 years, to summarize and evaluate the quality of creation, staging and performance of Cheo art by art units nationwide.

This year's festival was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism , the Department of Performing Arts, in coordination with the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh province and related units in Bac Ninh province - a land rich in traditional culture and art, contributing to promoting cultural exchange, tourism, and promoting the image of Bac Ninh to domestic and international friends.
This is also an opportunity to honor collectives and individuals who have made many contributions to the work of preserving and promoting the value of Cheo art - a unique national theatrical form, rich in identity and vitality in the spiritual life of the Vietnamese people. At the same time, the festival is an opportunity for artists, actors, musicians, directors, painters, choreographers, etc. to demonstrate their talents, exchange and share creative experiences, and at the same time contribute to affirming the position of Cheo theater in the general picture of Vietnamese performing arts in the period of integration and development.
The National Cheo Festival - 2025 is also an opportunity for the public to enjoy unique and vibrant performances, created on the basis of traditional art but with the breath of the times, contributing to enriching people's spiritual life and inspiring creativity for the young generation of artists.
According to the Organizing Committee, the National Cheo Festival - 2025 takes place from October 20 to November 2, at the Bac Ninh Provincial Culture - Exhibition Center (Nguyen Thi Dinh Street, Bac Giang Ward, Bac Ninh Province).
This year's festival brings together 11 professional Cheo art troupes from many provinces and cities across the country. They are the Vietnam National Traditional Theatre, Hanoi Cheo Theatre, Military Cheo Theatre, Ninh Binh Provincial Art Theatre, Hai Phong Traditional Theatre, Hung Yen Cheo Theatre, Lam Son Thanh Hoa Art Theatre, Phu Tho Province Lac Hong Theatre, Bac Ninh Cheo Theatre, Quang Ninh Provincial Art Troupe, Thai Nguyen Province Ethnic Arts Troupe.
The participating units performed 21 elaborately staged plays, deeply reflecting social life, praising the homeland, country and people of Vietnam, honoring moral and humanistic values and aspirations for goodness.

The Organizing Committee will honor works that achieve high aesthetic value, have new creative exploration of art through the actors' technical handling of acting based on the basic principles, characteristics of the Cheo art form; promote beauty and humanistic values, have a predictive nature, have a positive impact on social life, awareness of art-loving audiences and all classes of people, build and develop comprehensive human beings; arouse the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country; promote cultural values, the strength of Vietnamese people in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, especially building an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity.
Festival awards include Gold and Silver medals for plays with high content and artistic quality; Gold and Silver medals for individual performers and awards for creative elements such as scriptwriters, directors, musicians, art designers, and choreographers.
