Many universities have plans to support students and people in flood-affected areas.

To share the difficulties and losses after storm No. 3 with people in flooded areas, many universities have called on each staff and lecturer to donate at least one day's salary to the relief fund for the northern provinces severely affected by floods.

At Hanoi National University , to share the difficulties with people in flood-affected areas, the school decided to stop the Mid-Autumn Festival program, and the organization's funds will be transferred to support flood victims.

Hanoi National University calls on each cadre, civil servant and employee to contribute at least one day's salary to support people in difficulty. At the same time, Hanoi National University's trade union also sent a notice to grassroots trade unions to coordinate in carrying out these meaningful volunteer activities.

Units with donated products such as food, drinks, supplies, books... directly contact localities to send donations.

At the School of Business and Administration (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), not only stopping at personal contributions, the school also donated the entire school fund (100 million VND) and the fund to support young teachers training in the Northwest region (nearly 50 million VND), to promptly support people in difficulty.

"The staff, faculty, students and alumni not only contributed financially, but also directly participated in preparing and transporting relief goods.

Shipments of food and necessities were delivered to people in areas affected by storms and floods in Van Giang district, Hung Yen province and Dao Thinh commune, Tran Yen district, Yen Bai province, bringing with them a heart of sharing and practical support," said a school representative.

The University of Economics (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) also issued a document requesting business administration faculties/institutes and international training institutes to review, compile statistics and make a list of students affected by storm No. 3.

Accordingly, the school will review, consider, and propose support plans for students based on statistics of difficulties and actual losses.

At Foreign Trade University , a school representative said that storm No. 3 and its circulation, as well as flooding, have caused difficulties in the study and life of many students.

In order to have timely support plans, the school has organized a review, up to now, recorded information of about 100 students from provinces and cities facing difficulties such as being isolated due to flooding, family property damage, difficulty moving from home to school due to congestion... mainly due to being isolated due to flooding around their current residence.

The Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology has also allocated 500 million VND from the institute's student support fund to support full-time university students whose families have been severely affected by storms and floods, in order to help them overcome immediate difficulties.

In addition, from September 13 to 20, the academy provided 2,000 free meals to support policy students at the academy's canteen during the time Hanoi was heavily affected by storms and floods, using socialized funding.

At Hanoi University of Science and Technology , staff and lecturers donated to support people in localities affected by storm No. 3, each person donated at least one day's salary. Previously, at the launching ceremony of the education sector to support people affected by storm No. 3, representatives of the school donated 200 million VND, contributing to support people in the northern provinces facing difficulties and losses in the storm and flood.

On September 14, the Military Technical Academy announced that after one day of launching a voluntary campaign to support people affected by storm No. 3, the school received more than 417 million VND in donations. The school will accept donations until September 23.

"Any support at this time is greatly appreciated"

Previously, on the afternoon of September 11, the Ministry of Education and Training and the Vietnam Education Trade Union held a ceremony to launch the education sector to support people affected by storm No. 3.

Minister Nguyen Kim Son called on the entire education sector, cadres, civil servants, public employees, staff, students, and organizations and individuals inside and outside the sector to join hands, contribute materially and spiritually, with support, encouragement, and connections to share difficulties with people in flood-hit areas in general and with the education sector of the northern provinces and cities in particular.

“Any support, from notebooks, books, cash, personal items… at this time is very much appreciated. Support activities can be sent to the Vietnam Education Trade Union or directly to the localities, schools, families of teachers and students who have suffered losses due to storms and floods,” said the minister.
