In recent days, the temperature in Ha Tinh has been high, the hot weather has led to a sharp increase in the demand for ice to cool down. In order to supply enough goods to the market, many ice and beverage production facilities have been running at maximum capacity to produce goods in time.
At Vinh Quang ice production facility (Le Duan Street, Ha Tinh City), at this time, the ice making system operates continuously to produce ice cubes and marbles to meet market demand. Employees continuously load each bag of ice onto trucks to transport and deliver to customers.
Mr. Tran Le Vinh Quang - the owner of the facility said: "We started producing ice and bottled water for more than 2 months now, the main customers are agents, grocery stores, restaurants, and water shops. As a new facility, we have invested in a modern machinery system for production and comply with food hygiene and safety regulations in production and business. Starting from mid-April, the weather was hot, demand was high, output doubled compared to before, so the facility had to produce both day and night to keep up. These days, I have to constantly answer the phone to receive orders for ice and water. On average, the facility sells about 8 tons of ice and nearly 300 20-liter water bottles to the market each day."

Viet Thai Company Limited (Ha Huy Tap Street, Ha Tinh City) is a long-standing ice, bottled and canned water manufacturing facility with a large customer base. Currently, the facility's production and consumption output has increased by 30% compared to normal days, and is expected to peak around June.
Ms. Tran Thi Nga - representative of Viet Thai Company Limited said: From April to July is the peak production season for ice and drinks. In addition to distributing to customers in Ha Tinh City, we also supply products to neighboring localities such as Thach Ha and Cam Xuyen. Although output has increased, it seems that this year's consumption is lower than previous years due to the large number of production facilities and increasing competition in the market.

According to records at production facilities, the current price of ice is 1,000 - 1,200 VND/kg. Bottled water in 20 liters costs from 25,000 - 50,000 VND/bottle. Ice consumed in the market at this time is mainly used to prepare drinks and preserve food.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu - owner of a coffee shop on Le Ninh Street (Ha Tinh City) said: "The weather is hot in the summer, so the number of customers buying drinks has increased significantly, so the input materials have also increased. As for ice, if in previous months we imported about 50kg/day of marbled ice and crushed ice, now we have to increase to 80kg/day to have enough."

As a fisherman who fishes offshore and has to use a large amount of ice to preserve fresh food, Mr. Hoang Van Nam (Thach Kim commune, Thach Ha) shared: "The favorable sea helps us go out to sea more often, which means the demand for ice to preserve seafood has also increased significantly. On average, each trip, my ship needs 5-7 tons of ice to keep the seafood fresh. Managing and optimizing this amount of ice is a key factor to ensure both economic efficiency and product quality."
According to Mr. Nam, although there is no shortage of ice, preparing enough ice before each sea trip is something that cannot be neglected. "If we run out of ice while at sea, all our sweat and effort will be lost. The fish we catch will be spoiled and cannot be sold. Therefore, we always have to carefully calculate and prepare the necessary amount of ice for each trip," Mr. Nam added.

Due to high consumer demand, summer can be said to be the “profitable” season for ice, bottled water, and jarred water production facilities. Although the price of drinking water does not increase as much as ice, it is still significantly higher than in the cooler months. The sudden increase in demand has forced many ice production facilities to mobilize more workers to produce and deliver goods to customers on time.
However, according to many business owners, although output this summer has increased compared to previous months, it has decreased compared to previous years due to the large number of ice production facilities, leading to high competition. In addition, the recent 4.8% increase in electricity prices is also a burden for ice production facilities because electricity costs account for 40% of revenue, while the market is competitive so product prices must remain stable.
