Meals of love

Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hong My Le Dung, Chairwoman of the Ward Women's Union, said that the union actively studies and follows Uncle Ho's example with the spirit of mutual love, sharing difficulties, supporting and caring for difficult circumstances. The model of "Loving Meals" for poor workers has spread positive things to women's associations and people as well as philanthropists. The model has been implemented since 2016, up to now, it has given more than 14,000 free meals and drinks with a budget of more than 500 million VND. Thanks to that, during Covid-19, the union, along with socio -political organizations and local authorities, shared loving meals with people in the area in particular and the city in general.

“With the motto of not leaving anyone behind, the association always does a good job of social security in the locality, promoting the role of the organization and replicating practical models to accompany members and people. Currently, the association builds and replicates the model of “Loving Meals” to women’s associations in the area. A typical example is the An Thi 2 women’s association, which contributes to spreading the model on the 15th day (lunar calendar) of every month. In the past 3 years, the An Thi 2 women’s association has given more than 8,000 meals, costing more than 47 million VND. Loving meals with full nutrition help people reduce costs, Ms. Dung shared.

Ms. Le Thi Thu Nga, Head of the An Thi 2 Women's Association, said that in order to maintain loving meals for workers, every week, women's association members actively collect waste at the source and recycle waste in residential areas. The money collected is not only used to make meals but also to support the lives of women in difficult circumstances, single mothers, and to give gifts on holidays, June 1, Mid-Autumn Festival, etc. At the same time, some philanthropists found the model meaningful and paid attention to support it. In addition, on the occasion of Tet, thanks to the support of benefactors, the association organized a "Zero-dong stall" model with more than 400 gifts including: rice, fish sauce, salt, cooking oil, etc.

According to Ms. Dung, in addition to the "Loving Meal" model, the association connecting clean agricultural products of women's union members in the branches has implemented the "Love Connecting Agricultural Products" model. Up to now, the model has carried out 16 sales sessions, with a budget of nearly 9 million VND. Over the past 5 years, the association has supported the consumption of more than 15 tons of vegetables for people in difficult areas such as: pumpkin, watermelon, squash, corn, chili, sweet potatoes... In parallel, the "0 Dong Festival" model, the association gave away more than 1,000 gifts, with a budget of more than 250 million VND or the "Godmother" model sponsored 24 orphans. In addition, the association organizes a program to collect old books and give new books, support heart surgery, build charity houses, support hospitalization, support study costs, and give means of livelihood...

“Each association model is built on the spirit of solidarity, love, sharing and attachment. To achieve the above results, thanks to the solidarity, determination, unanimity, and fearlessness of difficulties and hardships of the female cadres and members, contributing to spreading good and meaningful work for the community and society. In the coming time, the association will promote effectiveness and continue to replicate good models to women's associations in the area,” said Ms. Dung.
