Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hong My Le Dung, President of the Women's Union of the ward, said that the union actively implements the campaign of studying and following Uncle Ho's teachings with a spirit of mutual support, sharing difficulties, and caring for those in need. The "Meal of Love" model for poor laborers has spread positivity to women's branches, residents, and philanthropists. The model, implemented since 2016, has provided over 14,000 free meals and drinks, costing over 500 million VND. Thanks to this, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the union, along with socio -political organizations and local authorities, shared meals of love with people in the ward and the city as a whole.
“With the motto of leaving no one behind, the association always does a good job of social welfare work in the locality, promoting the role of the organization and replicating models suitable to the reality to accompany members and people. Currently, the association is building and expanding the “Meal of Love” model to women's branches in the area. A prime example is the An Thi 2 women's branch, which contributes to spreading the model on the 15th (lunar calendar) of each month. In the past 3 years, the An Thi 2 women's branch has distributed more than 8,000 meals, costing over 47 million VND. These nutritious meals of love help people reduce expenses,” Ms. Dung shared.
Ms. Le Thi Thu Nga, Head of the An Thi 2 Women's Association, said that to maintain the "Meals of Love" program for workers, the women's association members actively collect waste at the source and recyclable waste in residential areas every week. The money collected not only provides meals but also supports the lives of women members in difficult circumstances, single mothers, and distributes gifts on holidays such as Children's Day (June 1st) and Mid-Autumn Festival. At the same time, some philanthropists have recognized the meaningfulness of the model and have shown interest in supporting it. Furthermore, during the Lunar New Year, thanks to the support of benefactors, the association organizes a "Zero-Cost Stall" with over 400 gift packages including rice, fish sauce, salt, cooking oil, etc.
According to Ms. Dung, in addition to the "Meal of Love" model, the association connecting clean agricultural products of women members in various branches has implemented the "Agricultural Products Connecting Love" model. To date, the model has held 16 sales sessions, with a total cost of nearly 9 million VND. Over the past 5 years, the association has supported the consumption of more than 15 tons of vegetables for people in disadvantaged areas, such as pumpkins, watermelons, winter squash, corn, chili peppers, sweet potatoes, etc. Simultaneously, the "Zero-Cost Day" model has distributed more than 1,000 gifts, costing over 250 million VND, and the "Godmother" model has sponsored 24 orphaned children. Furthermore, the association organizes programs to collect old books and donate new ones, supports heart surgeries, builds charity houses, provides hospitalization assistance, supports educational expenses, and provides livelihood resources…
“Each model association is built on the spirit of unity, love, sharing, and solidarity. These achievements are thanks to the unity, determination, and unwavering commitment of the women's association officials and members, who have contributed to spreading good and meaningful deeds to the community and society. In the future, the association will further develop and replicate these successful models to other women's associations in the area,” Ms. Dung said.
