This is an event organized by the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts on the occasion of the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025).
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Dr. Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, affirmed: President Ho Chi Minh, the leader who gave birth to the new Vietnam, the first people's democratic state in Southeast Asia. He was a great soldier of the international communist movement, who fought tirelessly for the independence and freedom of oppressed peoples around the world . People around the world remember him as a symbol of freedom and peace. The life, great career, extremely simple lifestyle, and wholehearted devotion to the country and people of President Ho Chi Minh touched the hearts of artists and became a special source of inspiration. Artists paint and sculpt statues of him as a natural emotional urge, stemming from their hearts, love, admiration and respect for President Ho Chi Minh.

The exhibition “Ho Chi Minh in the visual arts” introduces 60 works selected from hundreds of works about President Ho Chi Minh in the collection of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, including different genres and materials such as: painting, graphics, sculpture; embroidery, paper carving,... The exhibition is an opportunity for each of us to always remember and express our deep gratitude for the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh. This is also an opportunity for the domestic and international public to understand more about his simple life and great revolutionary career.
The works displayed in the exhibition “Ho Chi Minh in the visual arts” all depict important milestones in the life and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh. From his youth, through the years of wandering in search of a way to save the country, to the years when he returned to his homeland and directly led the Vietnamese revolution to success, they have been depicted by artists through many works such as: “Uncle Ho returns to Pac Bo in spring” by artist Duong Tuan, “Uncle Ho reads the Declaration” by artist Nguyen Duong…


The image of President Ho in the Viet Bac resistance zone is shown through many works such as: "President Ho works in the Viet Bac resistance zone" by painter Phan Ke An, "Uncle Ho works in Viet Bac" by painter Nguyen Van Ty. The image of Uncle Ho going on a campaign is shown through the work "Leaving the grass hut, Uncle continues to march" by painter Trong Kiem, "Uncle goes to work" by painters Tran Dinh Tho, Nguyen Thu, Nguyen Dai Luong... The image of Uncle Ho with the people is vividly portrayed by painters through the works: "Uncle Ho visits the primary school" by painter Do Huu Hue, "Uncle Ho visits the kindergarten" by painter Hoang Dao Khanh, "Uncle Ho with farmers" by painter Van Tho, "Uncle Ho with doctors" by painter Trong Cat, "Uncle Ho with the Central Highlands" by painter Xu Man, "The father of the armed forces" by sculptor Minh Dinh,...
In addition to the works of visual arts, artists with golden hands such as Song Hy and Vu Duc Trong have realistically portrayed the image of Uncle Ho through magical embroidery paintings. Not only domestic artists, but also international artists have special feelings for President Ho Chi Minh through works that successfully depict the portrait of President Ho Chi Minh such as David Thomas (USA), Lee Sang Phil (Korea).
The works are on display until May 30 at the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts.
