"HCMC is always proud of its team of teachers, who are not only good at their profession but also rich in personality, always dynamic, creative, and at the forefront of all emulation movements," Mr. Duoc emphasized.
Outstanding achievements
According to Mr. Duoc, the remarkable development of the city today in all fields of economy , culture, society, national security and defense, and Party building all have the great and lasting contribution of the education sector. Teachers are the source of intellectual nourishment, the solid pillars for the sustainable development of the city.
Mr. Duoc assessed that the patriotic emulation movement in the education and training sector of the city has made new developments, marking its mark through outstanding achievements. Specifically, the city is the first locality to complete universal primary education, recognized as meeting the standards of universal education and illiteracy eradication.
Up to now, the city has maintained its position in the top three localities nationwide in terms of mass training efficiency, while developing specialized schools and creating high-quality human resources. The city has early implemented international standard foreign language and information technology programs, piloted the "Happy School" model at 100% of educational institutions, issued a set of criteria and recognized 100 units that met digital school standards.
"Implementing the project to train human resources at international standards and making efforts to build thousands of new classrooms towards the goal of 300 classrooms/10,000 people are some of the encouraging achievements," said Mr. Duoc.
Origin of many innovative models
Congratulating the 50-year achievements of the education sector in Ho Chi Minh City, Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong said that if we count from 1945 when the country gained independence, Vietnam's revolutionary education was born until Ho Chi Minh City officially took over the task of building the education system, it was 30 years later.
Taking over a large city, facing numerous difficulties in terms of facilities, staff, and educational programs, but thanks to courage, intelligence, and the spirit of daring to do and innovate, Ho Chi Minh City's education has "gone behind and come forward", becoming one of the country's knowledge locomotives, the origin of many innovative models, spreading to other provinces and cities.
"The city's education and training sector has developed comprehensively in both quality and quantity, from mass to advanced education, from teaching letters to teaching people, which is an important premise for many generations of students to grow up and develop," said Mr. Thuong.
The Deputy Minister requested the entire education sector of the city to continue to carry out the key tasks identified in Resolution 71 of the Politburo. Thereby, building a team of dedicated and responsible teachers and a generation of students with dreams, continuing to reap more success so that the education sector of the city can reach the regional and world level.
Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc also said that the city's education sector holds many different potentials and opportunities, but also faces many difficulties.
Therefore, he suggested that the entire industry continue to make efforts to build a team of teachers who are not only strong in expertise but also shining examples in ethics and lifestyle, continue to fundamentally and comprehensively innovate management work, teaching and learning methods, and strongly apply information technology.
Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training Nguyen Van Hieu said he was proud to have come a long way, but there is still much to do. "We are determined to continue writing new, more brilliant pages so that the city's education is not only a source of pride for the present, but also a source of creative dreams, training and nurturing generations of brave, compassionate global citizens who carry on the national tradition in their aspirations to reach far," Mr. Hieu expressed.
