"Ho Chi Minh City has always been proud of its team of teachers, who are not only excellent in their profession but also rich in character, always dynamic, creative, and at the forefront of all emulation movements," Mr. Duoc emphasized.
Outstanding achievements
According to Mr. Duoc, the remarkable development of the city today in all areas— economic , cultural, social, national security and defense, and Party building—has been greatly and consistently contributed to by the education sector. Teachers are the source that nurtures intellect and the solid foundation for the sustainable development of the city.
Mr. Được assessed that the patriotic emulation movement in the education and training sector of Ho Chi Minh City has made new strides, leaving its mark through outstanding achievements. Specifically, the city was the first locality to complete universal primary education, and was recognized as having achieved the standard of universal education and literacy eradication.
To date, Ho Chi Minh City has maintained its position among the top three localities nationwide in terms of mass education efficiency, while simultaneously developing specialized schools and creating a high-quality workforce. The city has implemented international standard foreign language and computer science programs early on, piloted the "Happy School" model in 100% of educational institutions, and issued a set of criteria and recognized 100 units as achieving digital school standards.
"The implementation of the project to train internationally qualified human resources and the efforts to build thousands of new classrooms, aiming for 300 classrooms per 10,000 people, are among the encouraging achievements," Mr. Duoc stated.
The origin of many innovative models.
Congratulating Ho Chi Minh City on its 50-year achievements in education, the Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Pham Ngoc Thuong, stated that if we consider the year 1945, when the country gained independence and the revolutionary education system of Vietnam was born, it has been 30 years since Ho Chi Minh City officially took on the task of building its education system.
Taking over a major metropolis and facing numerous challenges regarding infrastructure, staffing, and educational programs, but thanks to its courage, intelligence, and spirit of daring to innovate, Ho Chi Minh City's education system has "started late but surpassed," becoming one of the leading intellectual hubs of the country, the origin of many innovative models that have spread to other provinces and cities.
"The city's education and training sector has developed comprehensively in both quality and quantity, from mass education to specialized education, from teaching literacy to teaching character, which is an important prerequisite for many generations of students to grow and develop," Mr. Thuong said.
The Deputy Minister urged the entire education sector of Ho Chi Minh City to continue implementing the key tasks identified in Resolution 71 of the Politburo. Through this, they should build a dedicated and responsible teaching staff and a generation of students with aspirations, achieving even greater success so that the city's education sector can reach regional and global standards.
Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc also stated that the education sector in Ho Chi Minh City possesses many unique potentials and opportunities, but also faces numerous challenges.
Therefore, he suggested that the entire sector continue its efforts to build a team of educators who are not only strong in professional expertise but also exemplary in ethics and lifestyle, and continue to fundamentally and comprehensively innovate management, teaching and learning methods, and strongly apply information technology.
The Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, Nguyen Van Hieu, expressed pride in having come a glorious way, but noted that much work remains to be done. "We are determined to write even more brilliant chapters so that the city's education system is not only a source of pride in the present but also inspires creative dreams, training and nurturing generations of global citizens who are strong-willed, compassionate, and carry on the national tradition with aspirations for greater achievements," Mr. Hieu stated.
