Resuming US visa interview schedule, things international students need to note

(NLDO)- Vietnamese international students will be denied visas if their social media accounts are not set to "public".

On the evening of June 20, the official Facebook pages of the US Embassy in Hanoi and the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City simultaneously announced good news. Specifically, the US government is preparing to resume scheduling appointments for student visa interviews and exchange programs.

Notice to international student applicants who intend to apply for F, M, J visas, please ensure that your social media accounts are set to "public". This is to help verify your identity and entry conditions according to US law.

"You will be refused a visa without this information," the notice stated.

This means that posts on social media platforms (Facebook, Tiktok, Instagram, X,...) must be posted in "public" mode. If the post is in "friends" or "private" mode, it will be in danger or rejected.

The US Embassy in Hanoi and the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City announced the good news on the evening of June 20.

The notice states that applicants must be absolutely honest and double-check all details before submitting to ensure accuracy. Updated information on interview appointments and visa renewal procedures will be announced as soon as possible.

Earlier, on the evening of June 20, many posts were shared on social media regarding the US reopening interview appointments in Hanoi. However, appointments could only be made on June 26 and 27. These are also the two days of the national high school graduation exam.
