The Hoa Tien 1 General Production and Business Service Cooperative (Hoa Tien commune, Hoa Vang district) has 1,307 members with a rice production area of 240 hectares per crop. For this summer-autumn crop, the cooperative and its members mobilized 14 plows to prepare the land to ensure timely sowing according to the seasonal schedule. The cooperative began sowing on May 15th and aims to complete all seed varieties by May 31st. Cooperative Director Ngo Van Sinh stated: “To prepare for the summer-autumn rice crop, the cooperative prepared seeds according to the seed structure guided by the Department of Agriculture and Environment. Currently, the sunny weather is very favorable for production, helping to limit pests and diseases and ensuring the future development of the rice plants.”
According to the city's agricultural sector, the 2025 summer-autumn rice crop needs to be planned to ensure a complete harvest before September 5th to avoid late-season floods and ensure rice yield and production. Therefore, the sowing schedule starts from May 15th and ends on May 31st. According to the Hoa Vang District People's Committee, the 2024-2025 winter-spring rice crop achieved a yield of 65.95 quintals/hectare (3.2 quintals/hectare lower than the same period last year), with a production of over 14,858 tons (1,017.9 tons lower than the same period last year). In the 2025 summer-autumn crop, the locality plans to cultivate a total area of 2,010 hectares, focusing on key medium and short-day varieties such as Ha Phat 3, DT100, and VNR10. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly, Deputy Head of the District's Agriculture and Environment Department, the El Nino phenomenon is expected to last until the end of the 2025 dry season, resulting in a serious shortage of water flow in the Vu Gia and Thu Bon rivers. The increasing severity of irrigation water shortages and saltwater intrusion necessitates that communes proactively implement measures to conserve water and use water resources rationally and efficiently for daily life and agricultural production.
The City's Agricultural Sub-Department (under the Department of Agriculture and Environment) recommends that localities prepare well in all aspects, including seeds, land preparation, organic base fertilizers, and pest and disease prevention. Farmers should use technically superior seeds to ensure seed quality, maintain a moderate sowing density of 4-5 kg/sao (80-100 kg/ha), apply fertilizer according to production procedures, and increase the use of organic fertilizers to ensure high yields.
