At the same time, striving for a fruit tree planting area of 2,570 hectares by the end of the year, expanding by 50 hectares in concentrated production areas, such as: Longan planting in Bac Cay Sung sub-region (Khanh Hoa commune), durian planting (Binh Chanh commune), vegetable and color growing area (Binh Thuy commune), snakehead fish breeding area according to GlobalGAP standards (My Phu commune)...
To achieve the set goals, the locality continues to effectively implement Resolution 09-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee on developing high-tech agriculture in the period of 2012 - 2020 and vision to 2030; the project to restructure the agricultural sector, models of linkage chains, gradually reorganize production, meet the requirements of development and application of scientific and technological advances in production. The district's agricultural sector coordinates with relevant units to promote training, agricultural extension, vocational training, build demonstration models to transfer technical advances and new technologies in the fields of cultivation, livestock and aquaculture to farmers. From there, the locality increases the use of certified seeds, applies "1 must, 6 reductions", "1 must, 5 reductions", sowing and fertilizing by machine, applying drones (unmanned aerial vehicles) in rice production.
Implementing the Project on sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality rice cultivation, winter-spring crop 2024 - 2025, in Dao Huu Canh commune, the specialized sector coordinated with related units to deploy a commercial rice production model according to the "1 must 5 reductions" process, on an area of 15 hectares. Thanks to the use of certified rice varieties, reducing the amount of seeds sown, fertilizers, irrigation water by alternating flooding and drying techniques, reducing the number of times pesticides are used, reducing post-harvest losses, combining ecological technology..., the model achieved a yield of 9.3 tons/ha (an increase of 5 - 10%), profit compared to control fields was 4.6 million VND/ha higher; farmers' input production costs were reduced by about 20%, income increased by 20 - 30%.
In O Long Vi commune, Binh My, the 2024 - 2025 winter-spring crop has a model of reducing the amount of seeds sown, with an area of 15 hectares. Farmers use high-quality rice varieties Dai Thom 8, certified; cluster sowing in rows combined with specialized fertilizer, with a sowing density of 80kg/ha; the process of alternating flooding and drying helps the rice plants absorb enough light and nutrients, increase the rate of sprouting, strengthen the plants, and prevent lodging. As a result, most of the model fields have a profit of more than 5.5 million VND/ha, helping farmers reduce production costs. Mr. Nguyen Hong Van (residing in O Long Vi commune) said: "Most farmers participating in the model have seen positive results. Reducing seeds has led to a reduction in fertilizers, a reduction in the use of pesticides, a reduction in environmental pollution, an increase in yield and quality of rice grains, helping to increase profits for farmers".
In the coming time, the district's functional departments will continue to mobilize farmers to participate in cooperatives and cooperative groups to link production, expand services, connect businesses, implement production linkage chains, and consume vegetable products and large fields. At the same time, regularly monitor, inspect, maintain, and promptly repair irrigation works; invest in developing irrigation systems combined with intra-field traffic, creating favorable conditions for bringing mechanization into the fields and transporting agricultural products.
