Regarding the incident involving the damage to the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty's royal throne, in response to a reporter from VTC News, a leader of the Hue City People's Committee Office confirmed that after the incident occurred, the City People's Committee directed the Hue Imperial Citadel Relics Conservation Center to hold a meeting, review responsibilities, learn from the experience, and discipline the individuals involved.
Specifically, Mr. Dang Quang Long and Mr. Dao Hoang Vu (security guards at Thai Hoa Palace on May 24th) were dismissed from their jobs. Mr. Cao Van Ngoc (Team Leader) and Mr. Le Thanh Phuc (Deputy Team Leader) - Security Team of Thai Hoa Palace, Ta Huu Vu and Kien Trung Palace (within the Hue Imperial Citadel) were reprimanded.
The director, three deputy directors, and the entire staff of the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center were subjected to a thorough review and reprimand before the leaders of the Hue City People's Committee. A serious review and reprimand were also issued to the Management and Protection Department and the Hue Imperial Palace Antiquities Museum (both belonging to the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center).

According to a report from the Hue City People's Committee to the Ministry of Culture , Sports and Tourism, following the incident, the Hue City People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture and Sports to take the lead and coordinate with the People's Committees of districts, towns, and communes to review and assess the work of displaying, preserving, protecting, and ensuring security and safety for artifacts and relics at museums and cultural and historical sites in the city.
The People's Committee of Hue City, in coordination with the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center, promptly provided complete and accurate information to the press while promoting propaganda and education to raise awareness among residents and tourists about protecting cultural heritage. The People's Committee also directed the City Police to cooperate with the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center to investigate and clarify the violations committed by Ho Van Phuong Tam – the vandal who destroyed the Nguyen Dynasty throne – in order to take appropriate action.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City also signed a decision to establish a Council to assess the condition and propose methods for preserving and restoring the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty's royal throne.

The council will meet on June 1st. Based on the results of the meeting, the Hue City People's Committee will continue to report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for consideration and decision on the plan for preserving and restoring the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty royal throne.
In the near future, the People's Committee of Hue City will hold a meeting of the Council to assess the condition and propose a plan for preserving and restoring the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty royal throne. The compiled opinions will be reported to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for consideration and decision on the restoration plan for the Nguyen Dynasty royal throne.
Regarding the national treasures currently housed at the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center, the Hue City People's Committee has directed relevant agencies to finalize and implement detailed protection plans for each treasure by June 2025. These plans should focus on ensuring comprehensive measures to prevent theft, fire, explosions, natural disasters, and other potential damage, thereby guaranteeing the absolute safety of the national treasures.
The People's Committee of Hue City will prioritize investing funds in renovating and upgrading facilities and technical infrastructure, and investing in specialized equipment for displaying and preserving artifacts and the national treasure exhibition area at the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center.

Promote the application of new technologies and artificial intelligence in management and supervision, such as early warning sensor systems, virtual fences, and security monitoring systems, to ensure that national treasures are placed under special preservation conditions as guided by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
At the same time, the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center was instructed to finalize the overall plan for security and safety at the unit; the plan for exhibitions and tours; and the plan for personnel organization and facilities to both meet the needs of visitors and ensure the safety and security of artifacts and antiques.
At noon on May 24th, Ho Van Phuong Tam (born in 1983, residing at Group 7, Area 4, Huong Long Ward, Phu Xuan District, Hue City) sneaked in and vandalized the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty's throne. Tam broke off the left armrest and smashed it into many pieces.
The Investigation Police Department of Hue City Police has initiated a criminal case, charged the suspect, and issued a 3-month temporary detention order against Ho Van Phuong Tam.
