Actress 'Family is Number One' in coma for 7 years

On September 18, on tvN STORY's The Village President's People , veteran actors Kim Hye Ja and Choi Bool Am reunited with the show's MCs and reminisced about their time working together. They previously worked together on the MBC drama series Country Diaries , which aired from 1980 to 2002.

No one has been able to contact Lee Su Na, she is believed to have been in a coma for the past 7 years.

When talking about the actors who appeared in Country Diaries , actress Kim Soo Mi - who also played a role in Country Diaries - mentioned Lee Su Na. She shared that Lee Su Na collapsed at home and was discovered too late. Since then, Lee Su Na has been in a coma and no one knows exactly what her current condition is.

In 2016, Lee Su Na’s daughter told Star News , “My mother has not regained consciousness since being admitted to the intensive care unit.” Lee suddenly collapsed at her home and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Yeouido, Seoul. She was then treated in the intensive care unit.

Lee Suna's daughter added: "My mother has high blood pressure and diabetes, but I don't know if that is related to this incident. The hospital said the cause is not clear yet. Right now, we are just monitoring her progress. She is still being treated at the hospital. I am just waiting and hoping that she will wake up."

Recalling seven years ago, actor Lee Gye In said he met Lee Su Na two days before she was hospitalized. “We had a beer together, then we said goodbye. Two days later, when I heard that she was hospitalized, I thought she had fainted from fatigue.” In response, actress Kim Hye Ja expressed regret: “She was a strong-willed person. Life is unpredictable.”

According to Hankooki, Lee Su Na fell ill with a brain hemorrhage in 2016 and was placed in the intensive care unit. There have been reports of the actress being in a coma and showing signs of recovery since then.

Lee Su Na is known to many Vietnamese audiences through her small role in the sitcom High Kick Through the Roof Part 1.

Actor Shin Chung Sik, who played Lee Su Na's husband in Country Diary, said, "We still keep in touch regularly even after the drama ended. In 2016, Lee Su Na suffered from high blood pressure and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit. I hope she recovers as soon as possible."

After a while, he could not contact the actress, which made him think that his colleague had cut off contact with everyone.

“Last February, I tried to contact Lee Su Na because I hadn’t been able to connect with her for 10 years. I went to the hospital when I learned that Su Na’s cousin worked there. When I asked how to contact her, the person said he couldn’t contact her either. Lee Sun had cut off all contact with everyone,” Shin Chung Sik shared.

Lee Su Na was born in 1947, graduated from the Faculty of Law at Korea University and debuted as an announcer and voice actress of MBC in 1965. Later, she ventured into acting and received much love from the audience thanks to her role in Country Diaries . She left a strong impression when appearing in the sitcoms Hello Franceska and High Kick 1.

In High Kick , the actress plays Gaeseong-daek, Moon Hee's best friend. This character is in prison for murder. Gaeseong-daek tries to escape from prison and flee to Moon Hee's house many times, but is always foiled by her best friend's husband, Soon Jae. Therefore, she dislikes Soon Jae and always seeks revenge.
