Binh Thuan proposes to extend Ka Pet Reservoir Project until 2028

The Ka Pet Reservoir Project in Ham Thuan Nam District is a national key project, approved by the National Assembly in its investment policy in Resolution No. 93/2019/QH14 and adjusted in Resolution No. 101/2023/QH15. The project has a total investment of more than VND 874 billion, with the goal of supplying water for agricultural production, daily life, industry and flood prevention for downstream areas.

According to the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province, from 2023 to now, the locality has completed many preparation stages: granting licenses for surface water exploitation, approving EIA reports, feasibility study reports and adjusting land use planning for Ham Thuan Nam district. However, the implementation progress is still slower than planned due to many problems related to geological surveys, forestry procedures, site clearance, relocation of spiritual works and changes in legal policies.

Perspective of Ka Pet Reservoir Project

The Provincial People's Committee said that the preparation for reforestation has been completed, and it is expected to plant 1,845 hectares of forest in the two crop seasons of 2025 and 2026. In addition, the 2025 capital plan has allocated more than VND 242 billion to serve the construction of construction packages during the dry season.

Binh Thuan Province proposed that the National Assembly extend the time for capital allocation and project implementation until 2028 to ensure the quality and technical aspects of the project. At the same time, it proposed that the National Assembly Standing Committee allow the Provincial People's Committee to approve plans for selecting contractors to promptly implement the construction in 2025.

The People's Committee of Binh Thuan province affirmed that it will continue to focus on directing and removing difficulties to ensure the progress, quality and investment efficiency of the strategic project on water security for the South Central region.
