The newly issued dispatch of the Ministry of Construction clearly states: The T3 Passenger Terminal Project - Tan Son Nhat International Airport is invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation, with a total investment of more than 11,000 billion VND. This is one of the key projects inaugurated to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
To achieve the goal of putting the project into operation and serving the people on the occasion of April 30, 2 months ahead of schedule, the Investor and construction contractors have made many efforts, implemented construction in difficult and narrow conditions with high determination, completing the construction of the project basically ensuring design requirements.
However, in addition to the achievements, some defects have recently arisen during the exploitation and use of the project. Although they have not affected the operational safety and exploitation capacity of the project, they have caused aesthetic loss, affected the experience of passengers and caused public opinion.
To thoroughly overcome the above problems and avoid affecting the safe operation of the project, the Minister of Construction requested the Vietnam Airports Corporation to urgently review and thoroughly overcome the shortcomings that have occurred in the past. In particular, it is necessary to thoroughly handle the situation of rainwater leaking from the glass roof to the floor of the check-in lobby and waiting room; and to have plans and solutions to ensure safe operation during the rainy and stormy season.
The organization directs contractors, coordinates with owners, managers, and users of the project to review the entire project, promptly detect problems that may arise during the exploitation and use of the project to take preventive measures, avoid similar situations, and ensure the functionality and operational safety of the project.
In addition, it is necessary to urgently complete unfinished work, especially the stone tiling of the station area. The completion process must absolutely not affect the ability to exploit and operate the station safely. Make a plan for construction maintenance, organize construction maintenance, and monitor construction during the exploitation and use process according to the provisions of law.
The Ministry of Construction requires contractors participating in construction works to increase human resources and equipment and coordinate with investors to carry out construction warranty according to regulations. Be responsible before the investor and before the law if any incident occurs that affects the quality and safety of the construction.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport needs to strengthen inspection and supervision of operations at Passenger Terminal T3, promptly report to competent authorities any issues arising during the operation and use of the facility for timely handling. At the same time, coordinate with competent authorities to take measures to ensure aviation security and safety during operations and operations.
Earlier, at noon on May 24, at the ticket check area and baggage conveyor belt of Vietnam Airlines at Tan Son Nhat Terminal 3, passengers were surprised to see rainwater flowing down from the roof cracks. The recorded images showed rainwater flowing down from the ceiling joints, creating long streaks.
This is not the first time T3 has had problems. On May 7, after heavy rain, passengers reported a leaking roof in the departure lounge area.
