Choosing the right occasion of Vietnamese Family Day, June 28, overseas Vietnamese author Tina Yuan launched two travel books about Vietnam and Greece.

With “Mileways of the Fatherland” and “Under the Blue Sky of Greece,” Tina Yuan wants to affirm that Vietnam is her homeland and the distant Mediterranean land is her second family.

In “Mileways of the Fatherland,” Vietnam appears with a rustic yet profound beauty, from the peaceful countryside, the rolling mountains covered in clouds, to the bustling life in the city.

It is not only a journey through geographical space, but also a journey back to memories: There is a grandfather with national pride imprinted in every story, friends who bring her sweet and close experiences, a childhood filled with emotional fragments, and also very ordinary moments of modern life today.

Meanwhile, “Under the Blue Sky of Greece” opens a poetic travelogue, where the land of ancient mythology appears not only through the silent relics, the brilliant yellow sunlight or the characteristic blue of the Aegean Sea, but also through each delicate slice of the author's emotions and thoughts.

In Greece, Tina Yuan not only set foot in a strange country, but also stepped into another world , where history, art, cuisine and people blend together in a lively symphony. The experiences here, from simple meals imbued with identity, short but kind encounters, to unfulfilled but sincere and profound love affairs, are all recorded in a feminine, quiet and poignant voice.

Introducing two works at the same time is a big challenge, but the author wants to affirm that, no matter where, creative inspiration always comes from love, for people, for beauty and for truth.

Two books are forthcoming in English.

“I see the simultaneous release of two books as a way to connect two civilizations: Vietnam, a country with a long and glorious history, and Greece, the cradle of Western civilization. Greek culture is very rich, the Greeks live simply, introverted but profound lives. Their way of looking at life, resilience, patriotism, hospitality and desire for freedom, all have similarities with the Vietnamese people,” Tina Yuan shared.

For her, this is also a tribute to her homeland and the country that taught her to be humble, tolerant and resilient. The two works mark an important shift in Tina Yuan's writing style, from personal narratives to a broader view of culture, people and cross-border emotional touches.

Present at the book launch, Mr. Christos Chatzopoulos, Deputy Ambassador of Greece to Vietnam, expressed his appreciation for Tina Yuan's work. He said that the book highlighted the beauty of the country, people and culture of Greece through the author's own unique perspective./.
