Chua Chan Mountain will be an international-class tourist destination.

Located in Xuan Loc district, Chua Chan Mountain Tourism Project is the largest in Dong Nai and the Southeast region. It is predicted that when the project comes into operation, it will become the driving force for Dong Nai tourism to break through and take off, becoming a locality with a position on the national and international tourism map.

Awakening tourism potential

Chua Chan Mountain is 837m above sea level, the second highest mountain in the Southeast (after Ba Den Mountain, Tay Ninh Province), located in the communes of Xuan Truong, Xuan Tho, Suoi Cat, Xuan Hiep and Gia Ray town. In 2012, Chua Chan Mountain was ranked as a national scenic relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

With a cool climate, gentle nature, rich flora and fauna and relics of Ham Hinh Secret Zone, vestiges of the French Governor's Residence, Buu Quang Pagoda, Lam Son Pagoda, Linh Son Pagoda..., for many years, Chua Chan Mountain has been a famous cultural and spiritual tourist destination of Dong Nai . However, compared to the available potential, tourism exploitation at Chua Chan Mountain is still not commensurate, not fully promoting the strengths of both natural landscape and cultural and spiritual values.

According to the plan of the Provincial People's Committee, Chua Chan Mountain will welcome about 5 million tourists by 2030, including about 100,000 overnight visitors. This will be the driving force for Xuan Loc district to grow strongly, contributing greatly to economic growth.

Ms. Tran Thi Yen, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, shared that for nearly 20 years, every year at the beginning of the year, she and her family have gone to the pagoda at Chua Chan Mountain. Having gone up the mountain by road and cable car, Ms. Yen said that going up Chua Chan Mountain by any road is interesting because you can see the beautiful scenery from two angles. However, compared to other destinations in the region as well as in the country, Chua Chan Mountain needs to be fully exploited; in which, the road system needs to be invested in construction and arranged more systematically. Chua Chan Mountain should have more items and constructions to create stops and entertainment spots to keep tourists visiting longer and spending more money.

Grasping the needs and potentials of tourism development, for many years, Dong Nai has taken steps to prepare to build Chua Chan Mountain into a leading domestic and international tourist destination. The project is proposed with the goal of investing in the construction of commercial service works including: resort villas, entertainment services, accommodation, hotels; works serving tourist transportation in the form of cable cars, mountain railways; combined with parks, trees and synchronous technical infrastructure systems to exploit the potential of climate and ecological landscape typical of Chua Chan Mountain.

Expecting world-class tourist destinations

The Chua Chan Mountain Ecotourism, Resort and Entertainment Project has a scale of 107 hectares, with a total estimated investment of nearly 18 trillion VND.

In order for the project to start construction soon and come into operation as planned, Chairwoman of Xuan Loc District People's Committee Nguyen Thi Cat Tien said that according to the plan, the project will complete related legal procedures to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2025. Therefore, in the coming time, the district will proactively coordinate with the provincial departments and branches to complete legal procedures; at the same time, mobilize all resources to invest in infrastructure, facilities, especially synchronous traffic routes connecting the project and the area. The district will train human resources in the tourism sector, meeting the standards of an international tourist destination. In addition, the district will promote, promote and connect tourism, making Chua Chan mountain tourism brand become the leading destination in Vietnam.

Assessing the tourism potential of Chua Chan Mountain, Director of the National Tourism Administration (under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) Nguyen Trung Khanh stated that Dong Nai is one of the gateway provinces of a major tourism center, Ho Chi Minh City, one of the leading growth poles of Vietnam tourism. With natural conditions as well as history and culture, in recent times, Dong Nai has made great efforts in promoting, building tourism products, developing tourism to become one of the important economic sectors of the locality.

According to the Director of the National Tourism Administration, Chua Chan Mountain and Nui Le Lake in Dong Nai are among the scenic spots that have been recognized as national tourist attractions by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism since 2012. In recent times, Chua Chan Mountain has had cultural and spiritual activities. However, the infrastructure conditions to fully promote the cultural and historical values ​​of Chua Chan Mountain and Nui Le Lake are still not commensurate with the existing potential. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to investing in facilities and infrastructure for this area to turn the potential of natural conditions, culture and history of Chua Chan Mountain and Nui Le Lake into one of the highlights to exploit, develop and promote tourism activities of Dong Nai in particular, as well as the whole Southeast region in general.
