Although the floodwaters are still present, people in many “flood-prone” communes in Hue are still collecting rice, instant noodles, fish sauce, money, etc. to send to people in the South Central region who are also experiencing floods but are facing more difficulties than themselves.

By the afternoon of November 21, the Phe Ba Village Cultural House (Dan Dien Commune, Hue City) was still surrounded by floodwaters. However, the atmosphere here was still very urgent, boxes of instant noodles were gradually piled up, next to them were bags of pure white rice, bottles of fish sauce were placed neatly and propped up.

Holding two boxes of instant noodles and a bag of fragrant white rice, Mrs. Ho Thi Dieu waded through floodwaters to the Phe Ba village Cultural House to ask for them to be sent to people suffering from severe flooding in the South Central region.

Mrs. Dieu said that the floodwaters in her family have not yet receded, but these days, reading newspapers and watching TV, she saw people in Gia Lai , Khanh Hoa... being flooded. The images of many elderly people and children sitting huddled on the roofs calling for help made her heart ache.

"I heard some people in the village calling for donations of goods and instant noodles to send to the people, so I brought a few boxes of noodles to contribute. Living in an area with frequent floods, I know that the people are suffering a lot, and the floods there are much bigger than in my commune," said Ms. Dieu.

In addition to Mrs. Dieu, many people from Phe Ba village overcame the flood to bring goods and money, a small token of Hue's love to the people of the South Central region. Some people rowed boats over the flood to bring goods after hearing the call.

Mr. Van Dinh Long (a resident of Phe Ba village, Dan Dien commune) said that his village is one of the "flood centers" in Hue, which has not been cleared for a month now. Having experienced 4 historic floods in Hue within the past month, Mr. Long understands better than anyone the difficulties caused by floods, so in the past few days, seeing the images of people in the South Central provinces devastated by floods, Mr. Long and many young people in the village were burning with anger, and decided to do something.

"We call on everyone to join hands to help our fellow countrymen in the South Central region overcome this historic flood, just like the way people across the country turned to Hue recently. Some people contributed rice, some instant noodles, some sent bottles of fish sauce...

Among them are boxes of instant noodles and bags of rice that my people just received from benefactors who came to support us during the recent flood," said Mr. Long.

Although the appeal was only made this morning, by the afternoon, the Phe Ba Village Cultural House had gathered more than 200 boxes of instant noodles, dozens of bags of rice and several tens of millions of dong in cash. Mr. Long said that tomorrow he and his friends plan to hire a truck to transport the above goods to Phu Yen - a place struggling to face historic floods.

Not only in Dan Dien commune, but many communes and wards that are "flood centers" of Hue such as Hoa Chau, Quang Dien Kim Tra... also mobilized people to contribute goods to send to the people of the South Central region with the spirit of "the rich help the poor".

Mr. Le Ngoc Duc, Secretary of the Party Committee of Dan Dien commune, said he highly appreciated the hearts of his fellow countrymen towards the South Central region.

"We will support and help the commune's volunteer groups connect to bring goods to the South Central region for people facing difficulties due to floods," said Mr. Duc.
