Released on Netflix on August 31, One Piece was immediately selected by the Hollywood Reporter as one of the best online movies and series to watch during the Labor Day weekend in the US. The list included 10 movies.
And One Piece is one of the best movies that was "named" alongside other movies such as Ahsoka (shown on Disney+ platform, this is the latest series in the Star Wars movie "universe"), Below Deck (Peacock platform), Justified: City Primeval (shown on Hulu), season 3 of Reservation Dogs (also shown on Hulu).
The movie One Piece received many positive responses from both international and Vietnamese audiences after its screening.
Recommended movies on this list include Jaws (all parts, Netflix, the classic shark franchise that debuted in 1975, directed by Steven Spielberg), Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (VOD, directed by James Mangold), Asteroid City (currently on Peacock, Wes Anderson's film premiering in theaters and competing at the Cannes Film Festival in June), The Flash (currently on Max, directed by Andy Muschietti, in theaters in June), and How to Blow Up a Pipeline (Hulu, directed by Daniel Goldhaber, in theaters in 2022).
Currently, One Piece is one of the series adapted from comics (manga) that is "making waves" on the online platform. Forbes magazine said that this is a rare Netflix series (compared to other series after its broadcast time) to reach 10,000 positive reviews from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes (95% rating) just a few days after its release! In the critics' section, the film received an 83% rating, certified "fresh", and is currently at the top of the list of most popular series voted by Rotten Tomatoes.
One Piece received more than 10,000 reviews from the audience - one of the rare Netflix series to achieve this "miracle"
On IMDb, the film received a rating of 8.5/10
One Piece 's fluctuating scores on Metacritic
Looking at other movie information aggregators, One Piece also shows great appeal to audiences - both long-time fans of the brand as well as first-time viewers. On IMDb, the film received a good score of 8.5/10 from a total of more than 38,000 reviews. Looking at Metacritic, One Piece received a score of 6.7/10 from critics and 7.8/10 from general audiences. The reason the score on this site is not as high as other sites is because the number of reviewers is small and some sites give very high scores, while others give very low scores.
In Vietnam, One Piece also received positive feedback. Many posts on social networking sites from groups and forums that discuss this brand commented that the film was carefully invested in, the quality of the adaptation was better than expected and better than previous live-action projects that Netflix had adapted.
