The National Assembly voted to pass a resolution to elect Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court for the 2021-2026 term with Mr. Nguyen Van Quang.

On the morning of November 10, after the vote counting results were available, the National Assembly voted to pass a resolution to elect the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court for the 2021-2026 term using an electronic system.

At the meeting, Secretary General and Head of the National Assembly Office Le Quang Manh presented the draft Resolution on the election of Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court for the 2021-2026 term to Mr. Nguyen Van Quang. The voting result was 440/441 delegates in favor, 1 delegate opposed.

As a result, the National Assembly officially passed the resolution to elect Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court with Mr. Nguyen Van Quang.

The National Assembly elected Mr. Nguyen Van Quang as Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court to replace Mr. Le Minh Tri, who was previously dismissed. Mr. Le Minh Tri was transferred, assigned, and appointed as Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Internal Affairs Committee .

After the National Assembly passed the resolution on the election, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man invited the new Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Van Quang to perform the oath-taking ceremony.

The oath-taking ceremony of Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Van Quang took place under the witness of leaders of the Party, State, Fatherland Front and National Assembly deputies.

Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Van Quang swore: "Under the sacred red flag with yellow star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly and compatriots and voters nationwide, I, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, swear: to be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the people, to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, to strive to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people."

In his inaugural speech, the new Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, Nguyen Van Quang, expressed his gratitude to the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, General Secretary To Lam, and Party and State leaders for entrusting him with the new responsibility, and to the National Assembly for electing him as Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court.

"This is my great honor and responsibility before the Party, the National Assembly and the people," said Mr. Nguyen Van Quang.

He stated that as the head of the judiciary, the agency that exercises judicial power according to the provisions of the Constitution, he will properly fulfill the oath he took before the National Assembly, comply with the leadership of the Party, and properly implement the principles and provisions of the Constitution and laws.

Together with the political system, judicial agencies achieve the highest goal of protecting justice, protecting human rights, civil rights, protecting the socialist regime, protecting the interests of the State, and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.

He said he will constantly practice, strive, learn from the experiences of previous chief justices, and uphold the role, responsibility, and exemplary nature of a leader.

Together with the Party Committee and leadership of the Supreme People's Court and the Council of Judges of the Supreme People's Court, we unite and promote the achievements of the industry over the past 80 years, especially the results, achievements and lessons learned from recent terms.

At the same time, we hope to receive support, facilitation and increased supervision from the people, the National Assembly, National Assembly deputies and People's Councils on the activities of People's Courts at all levels.

In particular, the close, effective and legal coordination of agencies, departments, Party committees and local authorities, especially agencies in the judicial system, so that the judiciary and the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court can successfully complete their tasks, contributing to building a Vietnamese judiciary "of the people, by the people and for the people".

Mr. Nguyen Van Quang was born in 1969, from Hai Phong city, has a doctorate in law and a senior degree in political theory.

He is a member of the 13th Party Central Committee and a delegate of the 15th National Assembly. Mr. Quang spent a long time working in the prosecution industry.

He served as Chief Prosecutor of Le Chan District People's Procuracy, Deputy Chief Prosecutor and then Chief Prosecutor of Hai Phong City People's Procuracy; Head of the Department of Procuracy for Settlement of Civil Cases (Supreme People's Procuracy).

Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuracy in Ho Chi Minh City; Director of the Department of Prosecution and Investigation of Economic Cases (Supreme People's Procuracy); Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuracy.

In December 2019, he held the position of Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee for the 2015-2020 term. He then became Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee.

In early September 2025, he was appointed to the position of Permanent Deputy Inspector General of the Government Inspectorate.

On November 4, 2025, he was transferred and appointed to join the Party Executive Committee, the Party Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the Supreme People's Court for the 2025 - 2030 term.
