Oppo launches foldable smartphone as thin as a regular phone

Oppo's Find N5 series is slimmer in thickness, and when folded, it is still only equivalent to a normal product.

On February 20 in Singapore, Oppo first announced the N5 foldable screen flagship. This is the 4th generation of the series. The highlight of the product is the thickness of only 4.2 mm at the thinnest part. When folded, this edge is 8.9 mm, only 0.6 thicker than the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The Chinese company's phone is also as heavy as the Apple flagship.

To reduce the size, the company uses silicon-carbon batteries. This technology first appeared on Honor phones, and is now popular in all Chinese flagships. Manufacturers can make batteries smaller and thinner, but the capacity is not cut. The Find N5 model, despite its reduced thickness, still has a 5,600 mAh battery, with fast charging support.

Ultra-thin folding products sometimes feel “awkward” and unsafe when folded and opened. In fact, the company has researched and added many reinforcement solutions. For example, the Find N5 model is supported by 7000 series aluminum, super-durable glass, and titanium hinges.

In terms of configuration, Find N5 is equipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, pre-installed with ColorOS 15. The device also fully supports AI tools, which are handled by Google Gemini. This operating system of Oppo stands out with the ability to connect to iPhone, MacBook and transfer files seamlessly with the Apple ecosystem.

Compared to Samsung's Z Fold series, the Oppo Find N5 stands out with its slim size and large, easy-to-use external screen. However, when placed next to its domestic competitors, the Oppo model is not too outstanding. The Honor Magic V3 is only 8.9 mm thick and weighs 229 grams, launched last year. Huawei's Mate XT 3-fold model has a thinnest edge of 3.6 mm, significantly lower.

In Vietnam, Find N3 was launched in mid-2024. The device made its mark on the market with its outstanding design and technology. This model also has many advantages when placed next to the Galaxy Z Fold5. However, the number of devices sold is not impressive. The high price and lack of experience among users have led to doubts about the quality.

With the newly launched Find N5 version, Oppo announced the global price at 2,500 SGD (47 million VND). According to sources of Tri Thuc - Znews , the company will also bring the model to sell in Vietnam at the end of March. However, the official price has not been announced.

In addition, the company has only launched the Fold version of the foldable phone line. The Flip variant has not been introduced to users by Oppo. This is the product that brings better sales for the company.
