On August 4, the National Economics University held a ceremony to announce the decision to recognize Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong as the Director of the National Economics University. Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son - representative of the Ministry of Education and Training presented the decision to the new Director.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said this is an important event, a step in the transition of leadership generations in the journey of strong and sustainable development of the National Economics University.
According to Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son, the National Economics University is a successful model of a comprehensive autonomous university, with a widespread impact and great influence on the entire Vietnamese higher education system. In particular, an important historical milestone is the school's approval by the Government to transform its organizational model from school to university in November 2024.
“This is a testament to the school's remarkable academic growth, autonomy and aspirations,” said the Deputy Minister.
In the context of the country facing the requirement of rapid and sustainable development, improving internal strength, and enhancing national competitiveness, according to Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son, higher education in general and key universities such as the National Economics University in particular must play a pioneering role in innovation associated with digital transformation and application of artificial intelligence, promoting scientific research, innovation, business cooperation and internationalization, and expanding development space.
In his new position, Deputy Minister of Education and Training expects Associate Professor Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong to inherit the core values that have been built over many terms; promote governance innovation, modernize the university model, promote autonomy along with social responsibility; build a team of dedicated and capable lecturers and staff, and create a dynamic, innovative and creative academic and startup ecosystem...
Accepting the position of Director of the National Economics University, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong said that this is an honor, but also a challenging responsibility that requires effort and dedication with all intelligence, passion and spirit of service.
He pledged to work with the school community to build the National Economics University into a place to train high-quality human resources, an excellent research center, and promote knowledge transfer to serve the cause of sustainable development of the country.
National Economics University will become a research-oriented university, among the top 5 universities in Vietnam and strive to be in the top 100 best universities in Asia, with a high ranking on the World Rankings.
Thus, up to now, the Board of Directors of the National Economics University includes: Director Bui Huy Nhuong and Deputy Director Nguyen Thanh Hieu. The Chairman of the University Council is Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Duc Tho.
Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong was born in 1973, is a former student of the 32nd class of Economics at the National Economics University; graduated with a Master's degree in Business Administration from Boise University, USA in 1997 and successfully defended his doctoral thesis in Economics at the National Economics University in 2007. He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2011 and was awarded the title of Distinguished Teacher by the State in 2020, and is currently a senior lecturer at the University.
With more than 30 years of association with the National Economics University since he was a student, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong has successively held the positions of lecturer; Secretary of the Youth Union of the Faculty of Economics and International Business; Deputy Director of the International Business Consulting and Training Center; Chief of Office of the Management Board of Advanced, High-Quality Training Programs and POHE; Director of the Center/Director of the Institute of Advanced, High-Quality Training and POHE; Head of the Organization - Personnel Department; Vice Rector/Vice Director of the National Economics University.
