A Hamas delegation, led by Khalil al-Hayya, arrived in Cairo on November 23 to discuss the Gaza peace plan, as well as the recent security escalation in the Gaza Strip, an Egyptian security official said, Xinhua news agency reported.
Egypt is holding intensive discussions with Hamas, along with US and Qatari mediators, to maintain the ceasefire and begin the second phase of the deal, the unnamed source said.
He added that the discussions also focused on the formation of a committee to manage the Gaza Strip under the ceasefire and address recent Israeli violations and escalations in the strip.

After two years of conflict in Gaza, a long-awaited ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect on October 10, following mediation efforts by the US, Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye.
Although the intense airstrikes have largely ended, casualties are still being reported in Gaza. On November 22, Israel launched a heavy airstrike on the Gaza Strip, killing at least 22 people and injuring dozens more, according to the Gaza Civil Defense.
The Israeli military said the airstrike was in response to an earlier attack on Israeli soldiers.
On November 17, the United Nations Security Council voted to approve US President Donald Trump's Gaza plan to bring lasting peace to the strip of land.
