The Russian Armed Forces' (RFAF) offensive on the city of Pokrovsk can be considered over; thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are surrounded in the Myrnohrad urban area, with no choice but to await their fate.

In addition to the forces encircling the Myrnohrad urban area east of Pokrovsk, the main force of the RFAF 51st Army has shifted its focus to the Kucheriv Yar spur and the front south of Kostiantynivka. The second phase of the RFAF operation to control northern Donetsk has begun.

The Russian military hopes to completely capture Kostiantynivka by mid-February 2026. Currently, the Russian military is determined to gain control of the Kucheriv Yar cape, located north of Pokrovsk, in order to cut off the supply line from the west to the Kostiantynivka defense cluster.

The village of Zolotyi Kolodyaz and the strategic highway T-0514 west of Kucheriv Yar, which is still under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), are defended by two battalions of the 12th and 14th Azov Assault Brigades of the 1st Azov Corps of the AFU. This is truly a “difficult problem” for the RFAF.

However, the Azov Corps also suffered heavy losses in two counterattacks at Kucheriv Yar on the “Dobropolye salient” and at the strategic town of Rodinske (north of Myrnohrad). This force not only suffered heavy casualties, but also seriously weakened its fighting spirit.

The commander of the 1st Azov Army repeatedly requested a retreat and regrouping, but these requests were refused. This passive defense posed a significant threat to the security of the southern flank of the city of Konstantinivka.

To strengthen the security of the southern flank of Konstantinivka, the AFU General Staff deployed the bulk of the 93rd Motorized Rifle Brigade north of Shakhove, to the southern outskirts of Kostiantynivka. The 10th Edelweiss Mountain Brigade, a notorious AFU unit, was also deployed there.

The above two brigades of the AFU, were “taken care of” and closely monitored by the RFAF. On November 25, after reconnaissance by UAV, the RFAF Southern Group accurately located the command post of the 93rd Motorized Infantry Brigade, Su-34 bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces, dropped FAB-500 UMPK bombs to destroy it.

Also on November 25, the Russian Air Force launched a second campaign of destruction, with Su-34 bombers using extremely powerful thermobaric bombs to destroy the command post of the 10th Edelweiss Mountain Brigade of the Ukrainian Army.

Within a few hours, both the forward command posts of the 93rd Brigade and the 10th Brigade of the AFU were destroyed. This annihilation operation will certainly increase panic among AFU soldiers in the area, as all hope to reach a ceasefire agreement at the initiative of the US President.

ZOV Military channel reports that the 20th RFAF Division broke through along the road north of Yablunivka. They are advancing towards Berestok, where the AFU has a fortified area at the intersection of the highways H20 and T-0504. Currently, the 4th Brigade and the 78th RFAF Regiment control Ivanopillya and develop on a wide front from Aleksandro - Shultino - Ivanopolye to the southeast of Konstantinovka.

Veteran war correspondent Marat Khairullin said that previously, only Russian reconnaissance and special forces groups were recorded in these areas. Meanwhile, on November 25, the Russian Defense Ministry issued a message saying: "Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov congratulated the 4th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade named after Georgy Pobedonosets, the 78th Motorized Rifle Regiment and 1194th RFAF for taking control of the Ivanopillya settlement in Donetsk."

The success of the two RFAF regiments, in taking control of the village of Ivanopillya, allowed them to reach the southern outskirts of Kostiantynivka, threatening the AFU defenses in the city. Now the Russian UAVs have almost no chance of detecting and eliminating AFU targets in Konstantinovka.

The settlement of Ivanopillya (population about 1,460 before the war) stretched for more than 3km along the right bank of the Krivoy Torets River, from the small village of Plescheevka, all the way to the southern suburb of Konstantinovka. This gave the RFAF another bridgehead to directly penetrate the city.

Rybar channel reported that the assault groups of the RFAF Southern Group fought fiercely to overcome the rugged terrain of the village of Ivanopillya, but the AFU laid dense obstacles, especially mines, to reach the starting line for urban warfare. The city of Konstantinovka is only 1.5 km from the village of Ivanopillya. (photo source: Military Review, Ukrinform, Rvvoenkory).
