Launching the "Energy Efficiency in Industry" Award

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang, Director of the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade , spoke at the launching ceremony.

In order to encourage businesses to use energy efficiently, on September 25, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with the Vietnam Energy Conservation and Efficiency Association (VECEA) to organize the Launching Ceremony of the Energy Efficiency Award in Industry and Construction Works 2024; The Award for the Most Energy Efficient Product 2024.

Sharing at the Ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang, Director of the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade, said: The energy efficiency awards are held annually to recognize and honor enterprises operating in the field of industrial production, typical construction works in implementing solutions for energy saving and efficiency. At the same time, promote and encourage enterprises to implement advanced management and technology solutions to bring to the market products with outstanding technical features, high energy efficiency, and energy saving. The awards are expected to contribute to the goal of achieving an energy saving rate of 8-10% in the period 2019 - 2030 of the National Program on Energy Saving and Efficiency in the period 2019 - 2030.

Information at the launching ceremony showed that the potential for energy saving in all sectors in Vietnam is still large. The industrial sector accounts for more than 50% of the total energy consumption nationwide. Actual surveys show that the potential for energy saving in industry in Vietnam is estimated at about 20 - 30%.

Officially launching the Energy Efficiency Award in Industry - Construction Works 2024.

As for construction projects in Vietnam, with the annual increase in floor area put into use of more than 40%, the potential for energy saving in construction projects in Vietnam is estimated at 30 - 35%.

According to calculations by the Vietnam Electricity Group, the country has 3,068 key energy-using establishments with energy consumption of 1,000 TOE (tons of oil equivalent) equivalent to 6 million kWh of electricity/year or more. These enterprises have an average electricity consumption of 80 billion kWh/year. If these establishments only need to save at least 2% of electricity consumption/year according to Directive No. 20/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on enhancing electricity saving in the period of 2023 - 2025, the whole country will save about 1.6 billion kWh of electricity annually (equivalent to saving more than 3,200 billion VND in electricity costs).

The application period for the 2024 awards begins September 25, 2024 and ends November 15, 2024.

Also on this occasion, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized a seminar on “Energy efficiency solutions in industry”. The seminar is an opportunity for experts and businesses to meet, exchange experiences and solutions to improve energy efficiency in industry. At the seminar, the Ministry of Industry and Trade shared technical and financial solutions for industrial enterprises to implement energy efficiency solutions through international cooperation projects...
