On April 19, in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union coordinated with the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Publishing Association to organize the launching ceremony of "Youth Reading Day".

At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam launched a reading movement among young people nationwide. The Ministry of Information and Communications hopes that the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union will join hands with the publishing and library sectors to promote the development of reading culture with the spirit that investing in publishing and reading culture is investing in people - the greatest resource that brings success and prosperity to the young generation.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam called on: Each member of the Youth Union to pay more attention to books and cultivate the habit of reading. With enthusiasm and determination, each person should show their love for books and passion for reading, thereby spreading the message of good values in each book to those around them. All levels, sectors, functional agencies, socio-political organizations and localities across the country should create favorable conditions to build a foundation for the development of reading culture; further promote investment in library institutions, cultural houses, and community reading spots to attract people from all walks of life to books; contribute to building a learning society.

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet suggested that all levels of the Youth Union focus on developing programs and plans to raise awareness among members, youth, and children about the importance of developing a reading culture; mobilize and encourage members, youth, and children, especially students, cadres, civil servants, and public employees, to build and maintain reading habits appropriate to each individual's conditions. Relevant parties need to equip themselves with reading skills and methods appropriate to each target group; orient and promote healthy reading trends and tastes in society; promote and replicate good models and effective methods in developing a reading culture.
Youth Union chapters at all levels also need to promote the organization of forums, seminars, talks, thematic activities, competitions... on books and reading culture, and mobilize donations of bookcases and libraries during peak volunteer activities of the Youth Union.
