An unexpected discovery underground changed this man's entire life.
According to Dailymail, 2,584 silver coins dating back about 1,000 years discovered in England were sold for a record price of up to 4.3 million pounds, equivalent to 112 billion VND. This "treasure" includes coins of King Harold II from the late Anglo-Saxon period and coins of King William the Conqueror in England.
The coins were discovered by Adam Staples and his friends in 2019. They were using a metal detector in a long-abandoned field in Chew Valley, southwest England, when they suddenly noticed something unusual in the ground. This discovery not only brought them a large sum of money but also provided important documents for research on British history.

Adam Staples, one of the main discoverers, recalled that when his metal detector first beeped, he was so excited that he called on everyone to start digging. Fortunately, he finally discovered the long-buried treasure.
"Despite the storm and heavy rain, we did not leave the site until we found all the coins in the ground. We were all soaked when we finished," the man added. They then immediately called the local authorities and relevant parties to report the incident.
"The first coin we found was a coin minted by William the Conqueror. It's a truly extraordinary find, I believe it will be voted the greatest find of the year," Staples told the British Museum. It was his biggest achievement in 30 years as an "amateur treasure hunter".

Many of the coins are still intact and experts believe that they must have been very valuable assets and belonged to a wealthy person at the time. For some important reason, they may have buried them for safekeeping.
Since King Harold's reign lasted only nine months, coins from that period are extremely rare. This treasure is extremely historically significant.
In addition to the two main discoverers, Adam Staples and Lisa Grace, the other members of the search party will also receive a share of the proceeds, which could amount to tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds. Meanwhile, the landowner, whose identity has not been revealed, is also entitled to 50 percent of the proceeds, a whopping £2.15 million, according to Dailymail.
"It's like winning the lottery," Staples said. "I plan to continue my treasure hunting hobby in the future. I won't give up because I really love this feeling."
The discovery, considered the most valuable treasure in British treasure hunting history, left Staples in disbelief. "I've made some amazing finds over the years, but when I saw something like this, I knew I had hit the jackpot," he said. "It was like a dream come true."
He said the discovery helped him buy a house and hopes to live without borrowing from now on, giving him more time to look for other things.

Michael Lewis, who runs the Portable Antiquities Scheme, a government- funded programme to record archaeological finds by the public, said it was "one of the most spectacular finds in recent years", especially because its story has yet to be fully revealed.
Lewis said the coins would help increase understanding of one of the most famous periods in British history.
The British Treasure Act 1996 ensured that these coins would be displayed in Museums across the UK before being stored in Somerset. This was an opportunity for people from many different parts of the country to see this extraordinary treasure, learn more about Britain’s past and be conscious of protecting this heritage for future generations.
Clearly, the discovery of this thousand-year-old artifact not only brought wealth to the discoverers but also provided new research material for historians, contributing to the clarification of the history of England. For Adam Staples and his friends, this was not only an economic life-changing but also an unforgettable adventure, opening the door to new historical discoveries.
