The Drug Administration of Vietnam ( Ministry of Health ) said that during the peak month of preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and goods infringing intellectual property rights (May 15 - June 15), the Department suddenly inspected 38 establishments (18 pharmaceutical establishments and 20 cosmetic production and trading establishments), discovering 17 establishments with violations related to production, trading, and advertising, and these violating establishments were all handled.

Among the cosmetic quality violations, the Drug Administration Department has decided to withdraw and temporarily stop receiving documents of VB Group Company (HCMC); revoke the certificate of Good Manufacturing Practice for Cosmetics of EBC Dong Nai Company.
In localities, according to reports from 20 provinces and cities, the delegations inspected 865 establishments producing, importing, and trading drugs and cosmetics, discovered 48 establishments in violation; and imposed administrative fines of 534 million VND.
The Drug Administration has recommended that the Department of Traditional Medicine Administration (Ministry of Health) review the scope of the GMP certificate of a unit at the time of inspection, the traditional medicine production line had not been in operation for a long time and did not have enough equipment as at the time of assessment.
16 drug samples failed to meet quality standards
Also according to the Drug Administration, since the beginning of 2025, the State testing system has taken about 16,000 samples of drugs, cosmetics, and medicinal herbs on the market for quality testing, detecting 16 samples that did not meet quality standards.
Notably, the Hanoi Center for Drug, Cosmetic and Food Testing discovered two drug retail establishments selling fake drugs and drugs of unknown origin.
Specifically: Duc Anh Pharmacy bought and sold drugs of unknown origin, smuggled drugs, including fake Nexium. An An Pharmacy bought and sold fake Theophylline extended-release tablets. Authorities are continuing to track down the origin of these drugs.
The Drug Administration of Vietnam said it is coordinating with units to complete the legal framework related to advertising management, licensing, quality control and sanctions for drugs, cosmetics and medicinal herbs, especially on social networks and e-commerce platforms.
Accordingly, it will propose strong decentralization regulations for localities and clearly define the responsibilities of ministries and branches in management work; strengthen the management of advertising in the electronic environment.
Coordinate with units to submit to the Government to increase the level and form of punishment for individuals and groups that violate the law.
