At the workshop, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan stated that over the past half century, Vietnamese architecture has made strong and comprehensive developments. Tens of thousands of national symbolic works along with technical infrastructure systems, housing, educational and medical facilities, public spaces, etc. have shown the profound presence of architecture in every development movement of the country.
In particular, green architecture trends, energy saving, climate change adaptation and honoring traditional identity are increasingly focused on and widely spread in the architectural community and society, affirming the continuous creativity of the country's architects. Many projects have won domestic and international awards.
Opinions at the workshop also raised the issue that in 2025, the institutional revolution and streamlining of the apparatus will open a new era of development for the country, while also posing new requirements and responsibilities for industries, including architecture.
In the coming time, the Vietnam Association of Architects, organizations participating in architectural development and architects need to proactively affirm their role in building and developing the country; research and propose to amend and supplement appropriate legal sanctions to create conditions for architectural development.
Opinions at the workshop also emphasized that Vietnamese architecture, when approaching traditional identity, needs to have a more dialectical and selective perspective, attached to the core spirit instead of imitating the form; each locality and region needs to promote its internal strengths to proactively create its own identity in an organic connection with the whole, and should not rely on and fear the spread of waves from large cities.
Tonight, May 20, the Vietnam Association of Architects will hold the 16th National Architecture Award ceremony (2024-2025). This is a national award in the field of architecture, assigned by the Prime Minister to the Association of Architects, the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to jointly organize.
