The conference was attended by 300 delegates representing health departments, hospitals, medical facilities, travel companies and domestic tourism service businesses.

Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan affirmed: Medical tourism is an inevitable trend in the era of globalization, when the demand for high-quality health care associated with relaxation and tourism is increasing.
Medical tourism is not only a new economic development model, but also a strategic direction to enhance the position of Vietnam's healthcare sector on the regional and world map.
Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan
According to international data, by 2024, the global medical tourism market will reach about 100 billion USD, with a growth rate of 15-25% per year. In Vietnam, the market size is currently about 700 million USD and is forecast to reach 4 billion USD by 2033. This shows that the room for development is still very large and full of potential.
Vietnam has all the conditions to strongly develop the field of medical tourism: The medical system is increasingly modern, the team of doctors is highly specialized, many advanced medical techniques such as organ transplants, fetal intervention, cardiology... have approached international standards.
In addition, rich traditional medicine, reasonable treatment costs, beautiful nature, unique culture and friendly people are unique competitive advantages, helping Vietnam's medical tourism create a distinct mark.

To realize the potential, the Ministry of Health has coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to develop a project to develop medical tourism and high-quality medical examination and treatment services for the period 2025-2030, aiming to make Vietnam a leading healthcare center in the region.
Some of the goals set are to improve the quality of medical services according to international standards; develop modern medical examination and treatment facilities with the capacity to receive and serve domestic and foreign tourists.
Each locality needs to proactively develop specific medical tourism products suitable to regional strengths.
Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan gives direction
Along with that is the development of a synchronous and modern promotion strategy, creating a national brand for Vietnamese medical tourism. On the other hand, developing medical tourism not only aims to attract international patients, but also contributes to reducing the number of people going abroad for treatment, saving national resources, and at the same time ensuring that domestic people have access to high-quality health care services.
Medical tourism is also a channel to expand medical diplomacy, promoting international cooperation in the fields of health, education, culture and technology. Thereby, contributing to spreading the image of a modern, humane Vietnam, ready to become a reliable partner of the international community in health care and protection.
Deputy Minister Tran Van Thuan asked the delegates attending the Conference to focus on discussing and assessing the current situation, frankly pointing out the existing problems, and at the same time proposing specific and feasible solutions.
The Ministry of Health pledges to continue to work with ministries, sectors, localities and the business community to promptly remove difficulties, support the improvement of service quality and create a favorable legal corridor for the development of medical tourism in a systematic, effective and sustainable manner.
At the Conference, the presentations and experience sharing of domestic and foreign experts are an important basis for concretizing the Party's major policies, gradually realizing the goal of building Vietnam into a leading healthcare destination in the region and the world.
