Phu Quoc speeds up for APEC 2027

An Giang is implementing investment preparations, upgrading facilities and technical infrastructure to ensure the best conditions for hosting the APEC 2027 Summit Week. There are 21 key projects serving the conference, including 10 public investment projects, 11 projects invested under the PPP method and other non-budgetary capital. These are modern, synchronous infrastructure projects that not only serve the APEC Conference but also contribute to promoting the long-term development of the locality and the country. Mr. Bui Thanh Trung - Chairman of Sun Group Southern Region committed: "We mobilize maximum resources and experience to implement the projects with a spirit of discipline, ensuring quality and construction progress".

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Cong Thuc said that the investment in projects and works aims to renovate and upgrade urban infrastructure, protect the landscape and environment so that Phu Quoc special zone can become a green civilized urban area, worthy of international events and promote the cultural image of Phu Quoc special zone to countries around the world . "The Provincial People's Committee commits to organizing and implementing projects to serve the APEC 2027 Summit Week in a positive and urgent spirit in accordance with legal regulations without affecting national defense and security tasks; absolutely not allowing negativity, corruption, loss, waste, or group interests to occur," Mr. Ngo Cong Thuc emphasized.

According to Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone Tran Minh Khoa, projects with architectural and aesthetic values are great expectations, creating an important breakthrough in tourism, service and socio-economic development, opening up great opportunities for Phu Quoc to break through and improve its position on the international tourism and trade map. The special zone government always accompanies investors and contractors in speeding up site clearance, creating the most favorable conditions for administrative procedures, infrastructure, investment environment, etc. to help projects be constructed smoothly and safely. Along with that, Phu Quoc regularly propagates and calls for the consensus and determination of the entire political system, business community, and all people to raise awareness of the importance and great significance of this event.

In a recent working session with provincial leaders and relevant ministries and branches, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung requested that ministries, branches, agencies, units, especially the province, must focus on the spirit of "what is said is done, what is committed is done". Central ministries and branches must strengthen inspection and supervision; proactively continue to support and accompany the province to remove difficulties and obstacles in cases that arise in practice. The province regularly inspects and reviews the procedures for implementing bidding packages, works and projects to ensure compliance with legal regulations.
