Comprehensive development of Kon Tum creates growth momentum for the Central Highlands region

On January 10, 2025, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 68/QD-TTg approving the Plan to implement the Kon Tum Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. In order to promote the comprehensive and sustainable development of Kon Tum , while creating growth momentum for the Central Highlands region.

By mobilizing and effectively using resources according to the motto of internal resources being fundamental and external resources being important, closely combining internal resources with external resources to create optimal comprehensive resources, taking public investment as the leading investment to create a breakthrough in attracting investment capital in developing and perfecting the system of synchronous and modern strategic infrastructure, ensuring overall connectivity. Regarding priority areas including developing strategic infrastructure, especially transportation, to increase connectivity inside and outside the province, along with that, high-tech agriculture , processing industry, and tourism will be the focus of investment. Accordingly, Mang Den Tourist Area (Kon Plong district) is identified as one of the highlights, with the orientation of becoming a prominent eco-tourism, resort and spiritual center of the region.

In addition, the plan also focuses on solutions to protect the environment, respond to climate change and ensure social security. Ethnic minority areas and border areas will receive special attention, through socio -economic development programs, improving the quality of life of the people. The plan also emphasizes the role of regional linkages, with Kon Tum strengthening cooperation with provinces in the Central Highlands to maximize potential and resources, while creating a combined strength to promote common growth, thereby hoping to help Kon Tum become an important economic driving force in the region. In addition to public investment, preferential policies will be implemented to attract investment from the domestic and foreign private sector. The agricultural, forestry and medicinal processing industries are encouraged to develop in the direction of applying high technology, creating added value and improving competitiveness. At the same time, projects in the fields of health, education, culture and sports are also strongly socialized to better meet the needs of the people. To achieve the goal of an average GRDP growth of over 9.5% per year by 2030, Kon Tum province plans to mobilize a total development investment capital of about 273 trillion VND, of which the 2021 - 2025 period will reach 118,000 billion VND, and the 2026 - 2030 period will reach 155,000 billion VND. The average investment capital to GRDP ratio in the 2026 - 2030 period is about 50.1% per year. This marks an important starting point for a new development stage of Kon Tum, aiming to become a province with sustainable development, while actively contributing to the overall development of the country.
