This was the topic of a seminar organized by the People's Committee of Ca Mau province on the morning of May 9th. Former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan attended and gave many insightful remarks on building sustainable and livable rural areas in Ca Mau.

The impetus of the new rural development
Making breakthroughs in building new rural areas and achieving sustainable poverty reduction.

Also attending the seminar were: Mr. Le Trung Quan, Member of the National Assembly's Economic and Financial Committee; Mr. Phan Hoang Vu, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; and Mr. Le Van Su, Vice Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee.

At the seminar, delegates, experts, and farmers focused on discussing various issues related to the shift in mindset from agricultural production to agricultural economics; leveraging local resources and strengths while protecting the environment and improving the quality of life for rural people; building learning rural areas to disseminate knowledge; and the proactive role of the government in building new rural areas.

Many believe that farmers should be empowered to play a leading role in developing an ecological agricultural economy, building united rural communities, and adapting to climate change and digital transformation.

Comrade Le Minh Hoan, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, delivered an insightful speech at the seminar.

To build sustainable and livable rural areas in Ca Mau in the coming time, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan suggested that it is necessary to promote the value of local resources, considering this as the foundation for developing the rural economy in a sustainable direction.

The former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly also emphasized the collaborative role of the State, businesses, and the community in building new rural areas; fostering cohesive rural communities, preserving traditional culture, and protecting the ecological environment.

According to Comrade Le Minh Hoan, building livable rural areas is not just about investing in infrastructure, but also about creating sustainable livelihoods, preserving resources, and fostering trust so that people are attached to their homeland. Farmers are the key players in the process of building sustainable rural areas, so they need to proactively learn, change their production mindset, improve their knowledge and skills, and strengthen linkages to adapt to the development requirements of the new era. In addition, it is necessary to develop agriculture in conjunction with tourism, shifting from single-value growth to multi-value growth to increase income and improve the lives of rural people.

Vice Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Le Van Su acknowledged the opinions and suggestions of former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan, as well as other experts and delegates.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Le Van Su, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that the opinions and suggestions of Mr. Le Minh Hoan, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, along with experts and delegates, are an important basis for the province to continue refining its rural development orientation in the new phase.

In the coming period, the province will focus on transforming its agricultural production mindset into a multi-value agricultural economy; developing OCOP products linked to local culture, ecotourism, and unique local resources, especially in the U Minh Ha forest area. The province also aims to further strengthen and improve the efficiency of cooperatives, viewing them as centers for linking production, consumption, and market access for farmers. Simultaneously, it will prioritize environmental protection, climate change adaptation, and the creation of living spaces in harmony with nature; and promote the leading role of the people in building new rural areas.

Mr. Ho Quoc Trang, a successful farmer and businessman from Tan Thanh ward, shared his perspective on sustainable rural development and creating livable rural areas from a farmer's point of view.
