Efforts to expand the market
In the program "National Biodiversity Restoration Year - Quang Nam 2024" which has just ended at 24/3 Square, Tam Ky, there were activities to promote, display and sell OCOP products and rural industrial products.
Ms. Pham Thi Duy My - Director of Duy Oanh Green Agriculture Cooperative (Duy Oanh Cooperative, Duy Son Commune, Duy Xuyen) said that the goods were not sold much because there were too few consumers looking for them. However, she was still happy that the Cooperative was determined to continue promoting, introducing, developing the market, and connecting consumers with the goods.
Duy Oanh Cooperative currently owns Duy Oanh cereal products that have achieved 4-star OCOP, brown rice and seaweed bars, herbal brown rice tea... which are all typical rural industrial products of the province.
Ms. Pham Thi Duy My said that currently, Duy Oanh Cooperative’s products have to compete fiercely in the market because of the increasing number of imported goods. The Cooperative has taken advantage of fairs, exhibitions, trade programs, and supply-demand connections to participate and promote its products. The Cooperative has also taken advantage of social networks and e-commerce platforms to sell its products.
Recently, Duy Oanh Cooperative and the provincial delegation went to Japan to promote and connect the consumption of goods. The initial success is that Japanese enterprises recognized the brand of goods, however, the export path is still ahead because Japan has many strict demands and requirements.
“We continue to expand the market, spreading goods throughout the country. The cooperative’s goods have been exported to Laos and are gradually expanding the market to Japan and other demanding markets,” said Ms. My.
According to Mr. Ngo Tien Hung - owner of Dat Ngo agarwood establishment (47/2 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Tam Ky city), agarwood is very picky about consumers, so he is constantly looking for ways to expand the market for goods such as agarwood essential oil, ky nam wine, agarwood tea, agarwood necklaces... In addition to showrooms in Tam Ky city, Mr. Dat has opened many stores in Da Nang city, Ho Chi Minh city and sells products through e-commerce.
“In addition to consolidating and developing traditional markets, we promote trade to expand the market. I join provincial delegations to survey and trade with international partners to learn and connect to open new markets, hoping to export goods,” said Mr. Hung.
Motivation for OCOP products
Recently, Quang Nam has 2 products certified by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as 5-star OCOP: Quy Thu grilled coconut cake (Quy Thu Production and Trade Company Limited, Que Xuan 2 Commune, Que Son) and SAPHRATON health protection food (Sam Sam Company Limited, Tra Linh Commune, Nam Tra My).
Recognized as 5-star OCOP products, Quang Nam's entities have shown their strength in capacity, production scale, completion, adaptation to requirements on green production conditions, and meeting export standards.
The above OCOP products, along with 4-star and 3-star OCOP products, have had a strong impact on production development in rural areas, contributing to the transformation from small-scale agricultural production to value chain-linked production, building a solid raw material area, and promoting socio-economic development in rural areas.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan said that in order to strongly develop OCOP products, departments, branches and localities need to reorganize production and business, focus on developing community-based economic components (cooperatives, small and medium enterprises, cooperative groups) to produce traditional products, products with advantages in rural areas, continue to shift the rural economy towards endogenous development, increasing value.
Through the development of OCOP production in rural areas, it will contribute to the industrialization and modernization of rural agriculture associated with environmental protection, preservation and sustainable development of rural society.
The market issue for Quang Nam OCOP products in 2025 continues to be a major concern. Goods that want to open up the market of course need to be of quality, have position and reputation.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan requested all districts, towns and cities to upgrade district-level OCOP sales points and centers; ensuring that by the end of 2025, each locality will have at least 1 OCOP sales point, connecting OCOP products inside and outside the province. Functional sectors need to organize trade promotion activities inside and outside the province, promote trade abroad, focusing on e-commerce promotion activities.
Quang Nam expects that by 2025, 100% of OCOP entities will commit to producing products in accordance with food safety regulations; packaging, labels, and packaging will be upgraded to ensure regulations; advanced quality management systems will be applied in the production, circulation, and traceability of products. Strive for products recognized as 3-star OCOP or higher to increase revenue and profit by at least 1.5 times after one year.
