Approval of environmental impact assessment for 2 pig farming projects in Krong Pa

(GLO)- Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Duong Mah Tiep has just signed Decision No. 305/QD-UBND and Decision No. 306/QD-UBND approving the results of the appraisal of the environmental impact assessment report of two pig farming projects in Krong Pa district.

Specifically, the two livestock projects include: Phu Cuong Phat Mot pig farm (Uar commune) and HTB agricultural pig farm (Chu Gu commune).

The Phu Cuong Phat Mot pig farm investment project of Phu Cuong Phat Mot Livestock Company Limited has an area of ​​160,000 m2 with a capacity of 40,000 pigs/year. The HTB agricultural pig farm investment project of HTB Agricultural Investment Company Limited has an area of ​​190,000 m2 with a capacity of 10,000 weaned pigs and 20,000 pigs.

According to the decisions, the construction items and activities of the two projects that are likely to have a negative impact on the environment during construction include: excavation, leveling; transportation of construction materials, construction activities that generate dust, exhaust gas, normal solid waste, hazardous waste; clearing and clearing, construction materials spilled during transportation and construction that generate normal solid waste; operation of means of transport, construction machinery and equipment that generate noise and vibration.

During the operation phase, activities that may have a negative impact on the environment include: pig transportation (pig import), feed and product sales (pork meat export), pig farming, wastewater treatment system operation; workers' activities, pig farming; pig farming and wastewater treatment system operation may generate hazardous waste; noise, vibration from the operation of means of transport, machinery and equipment and pig squealing.

The Provincial People's Committee requires project owners to only be allowed to implement the project after completing the procedures for converting land use purposes in accordance with current law provisions; widely publicize the project's construction activities to local authorities and communities; set up a system of signs, set up boundary markers of construction areas and inform relevant local authorities before carrying out construction activities; ensure safe environmental distances in accordance with the law on environmental protection and distances in livestock farming.

Along with that is the management and use of chemicals and veterinary drugs in accordance with the provisions of law; only pig breeds, types of animal feed, veterinary drugs permitted for use and circulation in Vietnam are allowed to be used and only biological products that have been announced and permitted for use during the project implementation process are allowed to be used.
