The national population database has been connected to 18 ministries, branches, 63 provinces and cities, and 4 enterprises. In particular, regarding digital economic development, the proportion of digital economy/GDP in 2023 is estimated to reach 16.5% with a growth rate of 20%, 3 times higher than GDP growth.

In Lao Cai, with the province's strong direction, digital transformation has been implemented synchronously by all levels and sectors on the pillars: digital government, digital economy, digital citizens and digital society. The province has directed the pilot model of digital transformation at the commune level in building smart new rural areas; more than 71% of the population over 14 years old have level 2 electronic identification; telecommunications and information technology infrastructure has been invested.
In his directive speech, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested leaders of ministries, branches and localities to be highly determined in the task of digital transformation. In particular, the focus is on raising awareness of digital transformation among people and businesses, especially leaders; strengthening potential, mobilizing all social resources for digital transformation. In addition, it is necessary to promote 5 contents including: institutions; infrastructure; innovation - entrepreneurship; developing digital human resources, digital skills, digital citizens; ensuring information security and safety. Steering Committees at all levels urgently issue a digital transformation plan for 2024 and implement it practically, effectively, and in line with practical requirements.
