In its second week of release, "The Tunnel" remains the top-grossing film at the box office. Statistics from Box Office Vietnam show that in the three-day weekend, the film grossed over 27 billion VND, bringing its current total to 130 billion VND.
This is an impressive achievement for a domestic film on a historical/war theme – a genre often considered to appeal to a niche audience. With public interest, coupled with the support and national pride felt during the April 30th - May 1st holiday, "The Tunnels" is expected to reach its 150 billion VND target this week and will likely remain in theaters for a long time.
Coming in second at the Vietnamese box office last week was the film "Marrying a Ghost to Ward Off Bad Luck," grossing over 15.5 billion VND. The film is a remake of the popular Taiwanese (China) film "Marry My Dead Body."
In Vietnam, this Thai version even surpassed the original in terms of revenue. Upon its release, "Marry My Dead Body" grossed over 10 billion VND in its first week and left theaters with over 30 billion VND. The film's success stems from its revamped storyline, impressive performances from the cast, and a humorous dubbed version.

Coming in third at the box office is "Minecraft" with 4.4 billion VND. The film has currently grossed over 18 billion VND. This is the highest-grossing film globally in 2025, bringing in $550 million for Warner Bros. Fourth and fifth place go to "Panor: The Bloodstained Magician" and "The Undercover Agent," with revenues of nearly 2.5 billion VND and 1.4 billion VND respectively.
This week, another Vietnamese film, "Searching for the Corpse: The Headless Ghost," will officially premiere. Directed by Bui Van Hai, this horror film features many familiar names such as Tien Luat, Ngo Kien Huy, People's Artist Hong Van, Meritorious Artist Huu Chau, and Meritorious Artist Dai Nghia…
According to the producers, the film is not simply a horror adventure, but aims to convey more about the pain and despair of people who inadvertently fall into a vortex of disaster, specifically in this case, family, mother and child.
Recently, the horror genre has attracted the attention of Vietnamese audiences, achieving high box office revenue. The debut of "Finding the Body: The Headless Ghost" is predicted to achieve good results if the team invests more in promotion.
Along with Vietnamese horror films, this week will see the release of five more foreign films. Among them, the horror genre remains prominent, with "Mother of Evil, Child of Evil" and "Kappa: The Evil Spirit at the Bottom of the Lake".
